Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2022053134A1] The invention relates to communication between a user plane entity and a control plane entity for exchanging network access node information. Using a first control message, the user plane entity can provide information to the control plane entity about the network access nodes to which the user plane entity maintains a communication interface connection. The control plane entity can use the provided information to select a suitable user plane entity to handle traffic of a client device served by a specific network access node. The invention may for example be used to provide enhanced communication and coordination among network functions in a 5G core network, as well as between such network functions and a multi-access edge computing framework.
