The storage container (1) also has a biologically living development good (6) located in or on the substrate (4). The storage container (1) is in the form a closed capsule in order to ensure an aseptic atmosphere. The substrate (4) is an absorbent material having a water absorption capacity, in the dry state, of at least 50 g water/cm3. The storage container (1) has at least two end segments (8) and a tubular central segment (2). The substrate (4) and the development good (6) are located in the central segment (2). At least a first of the end segments (8) has a smaller wall thickness and/or is more susceptible to thermal, physical and/or chemical attack, in comparison with the central segment (2), and/or has a predetermined separation point.
