The method has a pre-ironing phase (Vb) for pre-ironing the laundry (8) located in the drum (2), wherein vapor is conducted into the drum (2), and the drum (2) is displaced in a right-left pendular movement using the motor (3), the pendular rhythm of said movement being controlled or regulated by the control or regulating device (4) such that the drum (2) is at least temporarily not in contact with the laundry (8).
