[origin: WO2022063918A1] The present invention relates to an aerosol-generating system comprising an aerosol-generating device (2) and an aerosol-generating article (1 ), the aerosol-generating device (2) comprising at least one light source (210) for emitting light (300) into a cavity (200) of the device (2) and for illuminating at least a portion of the aerosol-generating article (1 ). At least a portion of the aerosol-generating article (1 ) is configured so that light (400, 400', 4000) is scattered and/or transmitted and/or diffused and/or re-emitted to the outside of the aerosol- generating device (2). The invention relates also to an aerosol generating device (2) that comprises at least one light source (210) for emitting light (300) into the cavity (200) and for illuminating the cavity (200). The light source (210) is configured such that, in operation, at least a portion of light (400) is scattered and/or diffused and/or transmitted and/or re-emitted from said cavity (200) to the outside of the aerosol-generating device (2).
