[origin: WO2022063450A1] The invention relates to a plate segment (2) for refining aqueously suspended fibrous material (1) in a refining gap (3) delimited by two treatment surfaces which rotate relative to one another and are formed by plate segments (2). The plate segment consists of a main body (4) having elongate treatment elements (5) facing the refining gap (3) and grooves (6) running between the treatment elements, wherein a plurality of channels (8) are arranged in the base body (4). The service life of the plate segments can be extended in that the channels (8) extend in the base body (4) at least in some sections in an inclined or curved manner relative to the refining gap (3), at least some of the channels (8) opening into the refining gap (3).
