[origin: WO2022089972A1] The invention relates to a transport star wheel (1) for transporting containers (2), which has a vertical star-wheel axis (SA) and at least one rotor-type transport element (3), which transport element can be driven in circulation about the star-wheel axis (SA); wherein a plurality of carrying positions (5) for retaining the containers (2) is distributed on the periphery of the transport element (3) around the star-wheel axis (SA); wherein, at each carrying position (5), a container carrier pair having a first container carrier (4) for suspendedly retaining the containers (2) and having a second container carrier (6) for suspendendly retaining the containers (2) is provided, which second container carrier is associated with the first container carrier (4); wherein the first container carriers (4) are disposed in a first horizontal gripper plane (E1) defining a first height position (h1) and the second container carriers (6) are disposed in a second horizontal gripper plane (E2) defining a second height position (h2); wherein the container carriers (4, 6) of each container carrier pair are disposed one over the other in the vertical direction and at least partly overlap; and wherein each container carrier (4, 6) is mounted on the transport element (3) for radial movement, with respect to the star-wheel axis (SA), and can be moved radially between at least one extended gripping position (GS) and at least one retracted release position (FS) by means of a control movement (B).
