Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2022096254A1] The invention relates to a method for reducing the population of at least one intestinal and/or gastrointestinal bacteria species, the method comprising the following steps: a) providing a biological specimen which comprises bacteria of at least one intestinal and/or gastrointestinal bacteria species, wherein the intestinal and/or gastrointestinal bacteria species directly or indirectly influences a mental, neurodegenerative and/or neurological disorder and/or disruption of a host organism; and b) providing bacteriophages of at least one bacteriophage species, which are specifically for the intestinal and/or gastrointestinal bacteria species and which comprise at least one nucleic acid functionally linked to a promoter and/or a regulatory element; and c) bringing the biological sample into contact with the bacteriophages and incubating same, wherein the incubation takes place until at least a 70% reduction in the population of the intestinal and/or gastrointestinal bacteria species is achieved.
