[origin: WO2022101042A1] The invention relates to an end-station device (1) for a sorting system (100) for sorting items (5), comprising a receiving device (2), a transport device (4) and a row arrangement (6) of end stations (61) arranged in a row; wherein the receiving device (2) is designed to take an item (5) from a sorter output (81) of a sorter (8) of the sorting system (100) and to deliver the item to the transport device (4); wherein the transport device (4) comprises a transport unit (41) that can be moved to any of the end stations (61) arranged in the row; and wherein the transport device (4) is designed to take the item (5) delivered by the receiving device (2) and to transport the item by means of the transport unit (41) to a desired end station (61) of the end stations (61) arranged in the row and to deliver the item into this desired end station (61).
