Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2603906A] A rail vehicle 1 includes: plural current collectors 3a, 3b, each electrically connecting the rail vehicle with an energy supply network 6a, 6b; plural converters 11a, 11b, each converter being assigned to a respective current collector, and converting a direct current (DC) on an input side of the converter to an alternating current (AC) on an output side of the converter; and an AC line 15 electrically connecting the output sides of the converters. The converters perform DC/AC conversion by repeatedly switching on/off converter switches (25) based on phase information about a phase position of an alternating voltage and/or alternating current on the output side of the converters. When the rail vehicle passes a section point 7 of the energy supply network, where interruption of energy supply to the input side of the first converter occurs: the interruption is detected; the first converter stops DC/AC conversion; and processing of the phase information is continued during a time interval of the interruption. When a return of the energy supply to the input side of the first converter is detected, the results of the continued processing of the phase information during the time interval of the interruption are used for a restart of the first converter.
