The driver unit 4 is operatively coupled with at least some of the fire grate bar rows 2 through the fire grate mechanism 3, allowing motion to be introduced to the fire grate bars 2b. According to the invention, the fire grate mechanism 3 has at least one gradient sensor 5a, 5b to determine and output gradient information.
