[origin: WO2022161839A1] A barrier wall element (1) has a main body (2) made of concrete, having a longitudinal extent (L), two longitudinal faces (6), two end faces (5) and a base surface (3). At least one coupling element (12) for connecting the barrier wall element (1) to a subsequent barrier wall element is provided on at least one of the end faces (5). The barrier wall element (1) has a minimum height (HM) of 1.5 m, measured from the base surface (3). On at least one of the longitudinal faces (6), above a central region (8) of the main body (2) which is set back relative to a foot region (7) of the main body (2), a projection (9) is provided which protrudes over the central region (8) and runs along the longitudinal extent (L). The coupling element (12) is positioned at least partially at the height of the projection (9).
