[origin: WO2022175069A1] The invention relates to a cross edge rolling process for increasing a thickness of a strip (1) in longitudinal edge strips (6) on both longitudinal sides of the strip (1). According to the invention, this is achieved in that first a step (11) running in the longitudinal direction of the strip (1) is produced by means of a roll profiling process, wherein the strip (1) is supported on said step against an edging force acting transversely to the strip (1) during the cross edge rolling process such that the strip (1) is not edged outside of the longitudinal edge strips (6). After the edging process for increasing the thickness of the longitudinal edge strips (6), the strip (1) is bent by means of a roll profiling process in order to form a C-profiled rail.
