[origin: WO2022199841A1] A cylinder head (53) for a lean-burn gasoline engine comprising a combustion chamber (50) extending into the cylinder head away from a gasket interface surface (58). The combustion chamber comprises a roof surface (90) which intersects the gasket interface surface at an opening (86). A pair of air inlet openings (49a, 49b) and a pair of exhaust outlet openings (56a, 56b) are located in the roof surface of the combustion chamber on inlet and outlet sides of the combustion chamber respectively. The roof surface comprises a plurality of machined facets, a first pair (185a, 185b) of which comprise opposing curved surfaces located on opposite sides of the combustion chamber between the air inlet openings and the exhaust outlet openings. A second pair (94, 95) of machined facets comprise opposing curved surfaces located on the air inlet side and the exhaust outlet side of the combustion chamber respectively. The first pair of machined facets intersect the gasket interface surface to define a first pair of opposed curved sections of the chamber opening, and the second pair of machined facets intersect the gasket interface surface to define a second pair of opposed curved sections of the chamber opening.
