In an air-conditioning apparatus (200) including a heat exchanger (10) configured to switch between serving as an evaporator and serving as a condenser, the heat exchanger (10) includes a first heat exchanger (21), a second heat exchanger (22), and a connection pipe (12). The first heat exchanger (213) includes a first header (21) divided into a plurality of chambers and connected with one end of each of the first heat transfer tubes (212), and a second header (214) extending in a horizontal direction and connected with the other end of each of the first heat transfer tubes (212). The second heat exchanger (22) includes a plurality of second heat transfer tubes (222), a third header (223) extending in the horizontal direction and connected with one end of each of the second heat transfer tubes (222), and a fourth header (224) extending in the horizontal direction and connected with the other end of each of the second heat transfer tubes (222). The connection pipe (12) connects the first heat exchanger (21) and the second heat exchanger (22). The first heat transfer tubes (212) each have a length greater than the length of each of the second heat transfer tubes (222).
