An electrical-discharge machining tool comprising a ground electrode (111), a moveable and activatable assistive electrode (103) and a cutting electrode (105), a first conduit (104) for supplying a dielectric and a second conduit for flushing dielectric material, wherein when used on a dielectric layer (102) on a substrate (101) the assistive electrode (103) is activated and positioned substantially between the ground electrode and the cutting electrode (105).
