[origin: EP4079501A1] An intermediate layer for a sandwich panel is provided. The intermediate layer has a first open side and a second side. The intermediate layer comprises a plurality of cells, each cell having a cell circumference being defined by a plurality of walls, the plurality of walls comprising at least a first pair of walls that are mutually parallel along a direction and at least two or more further walls, each further wall being non-parallel to the first pair of walls. For each part of the cell circumference between the first wall of the first pair of mutually parallel walls and the second wall of the first pair of mutually parallel walls, the part of the cell circumference comprises at least one of the at least two or more further walls. This part of the cell circumference comprises at least one opening extending from the first open side towards the second side. The second side is one of an open side and a closed side being closed by a sheet, said sheet having a perimetrical edge whose height along the perimetrical edge is less than the height of the walls.
