The drive operation is preferably monitored by a safety controller (10). If a malfunction is detected in which the drive operation of the drive unit (2) or the transport unit (1) is continued on the basis of a transmitted stop signal or if the energy supply is interrupted, at least one blocking device (13) in the drive unit (2) is activated in order to stop the drive unit (2) or the transport unit (1), wherein at least one transmission or at least one gear (16) or at least one wheel (15) directly is locked or blocked via the blocking device (13).
