[origin: WO2022223766A1] It is disclosed a method for embedding a monitoring system in a device comprising a body of a metallic material. The monitoring system comprises an optical fiber with a number of sensors for sensing data indicative of an operating status of the device. The method comprises the steps of: providing the body with a groove on an external surface thereof, the groove being configured to house a length of the optical fiber; laying the length of the optical fiber in the groove, and fixing the optical fiber in the groove by using at least one patch of a composite material above the optical fiber.
