[origin: WO2022229001A1] The present invention relates to a method and system for identifying larvae in a stiped plant, and for identifying the presence of said larvae reliably and during an initial infection state of the plant. In particular, the invention relates to a method for detecting larvae comprising a step of excitation by means of an acoustic signal having a predefined frequency to stress the larvae and/or stimulate their body movement; and following which the larvae are identified by the movements detected in response to said acoustic signal. The invention also relates to a larvae detection system comprising a probe incorporating a motion sensor and a speaker configured to emit said acoustic signal which stresses the larvae.
