[origin: WO2022228789A1] The invention relates to a method for determining a position of a rail vehicle (1), which is moving along a track (3), by means of a measuring system (6) that comprises a stereo camera system (5) and an evaluation device (16), wherein an image pair is recorded from a reference marker (7) in lateral surroundings of the track (3) by means of the stereo camera system (5) and wherein the position of the rail vehicle (1) in relation to the reference marker (7) is determined by means of photogrammetry. Lateral surroundings of the rail vehicle (1) are illuminated with polarised light by means of at least one light source (21) of the measuring system, wherein the polarised light is reflected by a retroreflector (15) located on the reference marker (7), and wherein the polarised light reflected by the retroreflector (15) is received by a polarisation filter (22) by means of the stereo camera system (5). In this way, sunlight and the light from other artificial light sources are blocked out.
