Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur maschinellen Etikettierung von Behältern (7, 27), wobei Etiketten (5, 25) von einem Etikettieraggregat (2) an die von einer Behältertransportvorrichtung (3) auf Drehtellern transportierten Behälter (7, 27) übergeben und die Behälter (7, 27) in einem Übergabebereich um ihre eigene Achse gedreht werden, und die Etiketten (5, 25) in einem ersten Teil des Übergabebereichs (I) von dem Etikettieraggregat (2) geführt und in einem zweiten Teil des Übergabebereichs (II) vollständig übergeben werden und die Drehgeschwindigkeit der Behälter (7, 27) um ihre eigene Achse im zweiten Teil des Übergabebereichs (II) erhöht wird. Weiter betrifft die Erfindung eine Vorrichtung (1) zur Ausführung des genannten Verfahrens.
