[origin: WO2022243212A1] The invention relates to an improved apparatus and methods for removing carbon dioxide during the hydroprocessing and/or hydrotreatment of biological feedstocks in the making of middle distillates. The improved apparatus and methods eliminates the need for multiple auxillary processes to support it including, for example, an amine regeneration unit, thus significantly decreasing not only the cost of constructing such a facility, but also the energy intensity and by extension the carbon footprint required to make the renewable fuel.
