[origin: WO2022253885A1] A container (10) for consumer goods is provided. The container comprises a box portion (20) and a lid portion (40), which together define a compartment for containing consumer goods; and a tray 60 disposed within the compartment. The tray (60) is configured to support at least some consumer goods (14). The tray (60) comprises a first portion (62) residing in the box portion (20) and a second portion (64) residing above the box portion (20). The lid portion (40) is movable relative to the box portion (20) between a closed position in which the tray (60) is covered and an open position in which the tray (60) is uncovered. The second portion (64) of the tray (60) extends into the lid portion (40) when the lid portion (40) is in the closed position, and engages with an inner surface of the lid portion (40) to help retain the lid portion (40) in the closed position. The container (10) further comprises a retention mechanism (80) between the first portion (62) of the tray (60) and the box portion (20). The retention mechanism (80) is configured to oppose movement of the tray (60) relative to the box portion (20) in response to the lid portion (40) being moved from the closed position to the open position.
