[origin: EP4177394A1] The invention relates to a garment care device (100) comprising a water tank (102) for storing water, a steam generator (104), and a pump (106) for pumping water from the water tank to the steam generator to generate steam. A water fluid transport volume (FV) is defined between the water tank and the steam generator. The pump is arranged to pump the water from the water tank through the fluid transport volume to reach the steam generator. The garment care device also comprises a steam trigger (124), and a control unit (120, 130). The control unit is adapted to i) detect a power-up of the garment care device, and ii) generate an actuation signal when the steam trigger is actuated for the first time after the power-up of the garment care device is detected. The control unit is further adapted to iii) actuate the pump with a first predetermined flow rate in the range [150;250] g/minute for a first predetermined duration not exceeding a value in the range [0.2;5] seconds in response to said actuation signal.
