[origin: WO2022253387A1] The present invention relates to a method for splicing a belt (1, 2, 3) in a connection region (3), comprising the steps of: - providing a spacer (51) in a zone (32) of the connection region (3) which is free of reinforcing supports, - providing an elastomeric base plate (30) of the connection region (3) having a vertical through opening in the zone (32) of the connection region (3) which is free of reinforcing supports, - arranging the elastomeric base plate (30) on the spacer (51) in such a way that the spacer (51) is accommodated by the vertical through opening in the elastomeric base plate (30), - arranging a splice connection of the open ends of the reinforcements (12, 22) on the elastomeric base plate (30) outside the zone (32) of the connection region (3) which is free of reinforcing supports, - filling the interstices in the splice connection with elastomeric filling material (31) on the elastomeric base plate (30) outside the zone (32) of the connection region (3) which is free of reinforcing supports, - arranging an elastomeric cover plate (34), which has a vertical through opening in the zone (32) of the connection region (3) which is free of reinforcing supports, in the connection region (3), so that the spacer (51) is accommodated by the vertical through opening of the elastomeric cover plate (34), - vulcanising the connection region (3) and - removing the spacer (51) from the vulcanised connection region (3).
