[origin: WO2022258602A1] The invention relates to a child seat (10) for fitting to a motor vehicle seat, the child seat (10) having a main body (11) to accommodate a child and an impact shield (12) to retain the child. At least one active protective means (22) is provided on the impact shield (12) or is formed thereby, and the active protective means (22) can be transferred from a non-activated state to an activated state, such that:- in the non-activated state a rotation of the child's upper body relative to the child's buttocks is enabled, and in the activated state this is not enabled or is only enabled to a limited extent, and/or- in the non-activated state a shifting of the child in the direction of travel is enabled, and in the activated state this is not enabled or is only enabled to a limited extent.
