A computer implemented method for a data sharing system (105) to share healthcare data from a healthcare data provider (100) with a healthcare data processing application (160). The method includes identifying one or more healthcare data processor applications (160), generating and displaying selectable options of the one or more data processor applications (160) at a healthcare data provider (100), obtaining a selection of the one or more data processor applications (160) from the healthcare data provider (100), obtaining a data provider/application-specific encryption keyset corresponding to each selected healthcare data processor application (160), the keyset comprising a private key and a public key, retaining the private key of the data provider/application-specific keyset with a trusted component (120) of the healthcare data provider (100), and sharing the public key of the data provider/application-specific keyset with the corresponding selected healthcare data processor application (160). At an authentication server (140) of the healthcare data sharing system (105), the public key of the data provider/application-specific keyset may be authenticated as being signed and validated using the trusted component (120) of the healthcare data provider (100) and being signed and validated by the respective selected data processor application (160). When the public key of the data provider/application-specific keyset is authenticated and validated for both the healthcare data provider (100) and the corresponding data processor application (160), the healthcare data (115) of the healthcare data provider (100) is encrypted using the private key of the corresponding data provider/application-specific keyset and the encrypted healthcare data is shared with the corresponding selected data processor application (160).
