[origin: GB2608155A] A hair styling appliance 10 comprising reciprocally movable arms 12, 14, at least one of which includes a plenum 40, 44 receiving airflow 59 from a fan (30, fig. 11) and emitting it, preferably heated, via an outlet 48, 50 towards hair 22 in a region 20 between the arms. An air deflector 52, 54 along at least one of the arms deflects airflow out of the region, which may define, with an arm outer surface 58, 62 opposite, a converging duct 56, 60 that curves away from the region, which may include at least one vane (64, fig. 5) to deflect airflow towards an appliance tip (18, fig. 11). Preferably, the outlet(s) are closer to the hair-exiting edge 19 of the arms, and the air deflector(s) are closer to the hair-entering edge 15. The plenum(s) may taper cross-sectionally parallel to the plane of the hair. The fan is preferably within a base (16, fig. 11), to which the arms are pivotably mounted, and connected to the plenum(s) via bellows (34, fig. 11).
