In a pressing step, the fibrous web (1) is pressed and consolidated in a press nip (9) while lying between a first and a second support element (2, 3) each having a contact surface (2.1, 3.1) facing the fibrous web (1). The contact surface (2.1) of at least the first support element (2) is designed such that at least one low-pressure zone (4) and at least one high-pressure zone (5) are formed in the fibrous web (1), the at least one high-pressure zone (5) having a surface proportion of the pressed surface (7) of 5% to 60%, in particular of 5% to 30%, preferably of greater than 30% to 60%, more preferably of 35% to 50%.
