In the drive battery housing there are a battery cell layer having a plurality of battery cells, arranged vertically and next to one another, and a support layer, which can also be referred to as a degassing layer, spacer layer, collision protection layer or deformation layer. In each battery cell, at least one degassing opening is formed in the side facing the support layer and a degassing space, i.e. a recess, that can hold a certain volume of gas is arranged opposite each degassing opening in the support layer.
