[origin: WO2023016908A1] The invention relates to the use of hemimellitic ester of the following general formula I, wherein R1, R2 and R3 are independently of one another a) an unsubstituted, branched or unbranched C1 to C20 alkyl group or b) a C1 to C5 alkyl group containing at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of cycloalkyl groups and aromatic groups or C) a C5 to C20 aromatic group or a C5 to C20 cycloalkyl group, wherein the hemimellitic ester of formula I may be in the form of a mixture of different compounds of formula I, as a base oil of a lubricant composition for lubricating tribological systems.
