[origin: WO2023031158A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a bicycle drive (10). The bicycle drive (10) has a bottom bracket shaft (12), an electric drive motor (38), and a gear unit (18) with a shifting element (26) for changing gear ratios, a first gear element (20), and a second gear element (24). The gear unit (18) is designed to transmit a torque from the bottom bracket shaft (12) to an output (22) of the bicycle drive (10) in a shiftable manner with at least one first and second gear ratio, wherein the first gear element (20) is connected to the second gear element (24) in one of the two gear ratios in order to transmit a torque by means of the shifting element (26). The method has at least the following steps: - detecting a gear change request; and - controlling the drive motor (38) on the basis of the detected gear change request in order to reduce a load acting on the shifting element (26). The invention additionally relates to a bicycle drive (10) and a bicycle.
