[origin: WO2023057202A1] The invention relates to an evaporator (1) for a steam treatment appliance, having a receiving area (11) for liquid to be evaporated, comprising a base-side surface heating device (6) which is covered by a cover (2) that has a steam outlet nozzle (12) and a water passage nozzle (3). The water passage nozzle (3) has a first tube section (3a) running within the receiving area (11), the opening of said tube section lying below the maximum fill level (Fmax) of the liquid and above the surface heating device (6). A domestic steam treatment appliance has a cooking chamber and an evaporator (1) of the aforementioned type, wherein the steam outlet nozzle (12) of the evaporator (1) is fluidically connected to the cooking chamber, and the domestic steam treatment appliance is designed to convey liquid into the receiving chamber (11) through the water passage nozzle (3) and out of the receiving chamber (11) through the water passage nozzle (3).
