    Description

    BACKGROUND

    FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of terminals, and particularly to a camera module applied to a terminal, and a terminal including same.

    BACKGROUND

[0002] With the rapid development of terminals, terminals are becoming more and more popular. Terminals have become indispensable equipments in people's lives. People can study and be entertained through the terminals.

[0003] Picture taking is one of the most common functions in the terminals. In order to achieve better picture talcing capabilities, more and more terminal manufacturers begin to use a dual camera scheme. Compared to a single camera, dual cameras can take pictures having almost double resolution using an algorithm synthesis. In the actual picture taking process, dual cameras can capture more picture detail.

[0004] Because the camera module of the terminal includes an additional camera as well as an additional flexible printed circuit (FPC) for the additional camera, a running of the FPCs of the camera module occupies a larger space of a circuit board. Therefore, the layout of the circuit board of the terminal is difficult. CN205545576U, US2016/227193A1, US2012/086784A1, and JP2009265412A are related prior arts for this field. More particularly, CN205545576U discloses an imaging module including a flexible circuit board and at least two spaced camera modules. US2016/227193A1 discloses a system including a first imager, a second imager, and a processor operably coupled to the first imager and the second imager. US2012/086784A1 discloses a 3-D image pick-up device including a PCB mounted with two camera modules including an image sensor. JP2009265412A discloses a stereo camera unit positioned and fixed relative to three reference surfaces.

    SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0005] It is an object of the invention to provide a camera module capable of reducing the arrangement space occupied by the camera module on a circuit board of the terminal and reducing the difficulty in the arrangement of the camera module. This object is satisfied by the subject matter of claim 1.

[0006] A camera module applied to a terminal in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a first camera module, a first flexible printed circuit, a second camera module, and a second flexible printed circuit. The first flexible printed circuit is connected to the first camera module. The second camera module is arranged side by side with the first camera module. The second flexible printed circuit is connected to the second camera module. At least one of the first flexible printed circuit and the second flexible printed circuit extends along an arrangement direction of the first camera module and the second camera module.

[0007] A terminal in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a housing, a circuit board, and the camera module disposed in the housing.

[0008] The camera module and the terminal of the embodiment of the present disclosure changes the arrangement of the flexible printed circuit of the camera module, thus reducing the arrangement space occupied by the camera module on the circuit board of the terminal and reducing the difficulty in the arrangement of the camera module.

    1. (1) Only the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends along the arrangement direction of the first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33.
    2. (2) Only the second flexible printed circuit 34 extends along the arrangement direction of the first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33.
    3. (3) The first flexible printed circuit 32 and the second flexible printed circuit 34 extend along the arrangement direction of the first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33.

[0031] In some embodiments, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from a side wall of the first camera module 31 parallel to the arrangement direction, and twists to be adjacent to a side wall of the second camera module 33, and extends along the side wall of the second camera module 33 to exceed an end of the second camera module 33 away from the first camera module 31 to electrically connect to the circuit board 50.

[0032] Because of physical properties of the flexible printed circuit, the flexible printed circuit has a high wiring density, light weight, and thin thickness. The flexible printed circuit can be bent, folded, wound, twisted, and stretched in three-dimensional space to realize light weight, miniaturization, and thin thickness so as to achieve integration of component and wire connection. Therefore, when the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from the first camera module 31, the first flexible printed circuit 32 can be twisted to be adjacent to the side wall of the first camera module 31. The first flexible printed circuit 32 extends along the side wall of the second camera camera module 31. The first flexible printed circuit 32 can be twisted again so as to be adjacent to an end of the second camera module 33 adjacent to the side wall of the second camera module 33. The first flexible printed circuit 32 is fastened to the circuit board 50 by the first connector A to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50.

[0033] In practical application, in order to facilitate twisting, a shape of the first flexible printed circuit 32 can be an L shape.

[0034] In some embodiments, the second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from a side wall of the second camera module 33 parallel to the arrangement direction, the second flexible printed circuit 34 is adjacent to a side wall of the first camera module 31, and the second flexible printed circuit 34 extends exceed an end of the first camera module 31 away from the second camera module 33 to electrically connect to the circuit board 50.

[0035] Similarly, the second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from the second camera module 33 and can be twisted to be adjacent to a side wall of the second camera module 33. The second flexible printed circuit 34 extends along the side wall of the first camera module 31 to exceed an end of the first camera module 31 away from the second camera module 33. The second flexible printed circuit 34 can be twisted again so as to be adjacent to an end of the first camera module 31 adjacent to the side wall of the first camera module 31. The second flexible printed circuit 34 is fastened to the circuit board 50 by the second connector B to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50.

[0036] In practical application, in order to facilitate twisting, a shape of the second flexible printed circuit 34 can be an L shape.

[0037] In some embodiments, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from an end of the first camera module 31 being perpendicular to the arrangement direction and away from the second camera module 33 to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50.

[0038] In some embodiments, the positions of the first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33 may be exchanged.

[0039] It is to be understood that in such situation the first flexible printed circuit 32 and the second flexible printed circuit 34 can be arranged in the following ways.
    1. (1) Referring to FIG. 6, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from an end of the first camera module 31 and is parallel to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board via the connector A. The second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from a side wall of the second camera module 33 parallel to the arrangement direction, and is twisted to be parallel to the arrangement direction, and further extends alongside walls of the second camera module 33 and the first camera module 31 from the second camera module 33 to exceed the end of the first camera module 31 away from the second camera module 33, and realizes electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector B.
    2. (2) Referring to FIG. 7, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from a side wall of the first camera module 31 parallel to the arrangement direction, and is twisted to be parallel to the arrangement direction, and is adjacent to side walls of the first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33, and further extends to exceed an end of the second camera module 33 away from the first camera module 31, and realizes electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector A. The second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from a side wall of the second camera module 33 parallel to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector B, the second flexible printed circuit 34 is twisted to be adjacent to the side wall of the second camera module 33. The first flexible printed circuit 32 and the second flexible printed circuit 34 extend in parallel along a same direction.
    3. (3) Referring to FIG. 8, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from a side wall of the first camera module 31 and is parallel to the arrangement direction to electrically connect to the circuit board 50 via the connector A. The second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from a side wall of the second camera module 33 and is parallel to the arrangement direction to electrically connect to the circuit board 50 via the connector B. The first flexible printed circuit 32 and the second flexible printed circuit 34 extend in parallel along opposite directions.
    4. (4) Referring to FIG. 9, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from a side wall of the first camera module 31 away from the second camera module 33 and is perpendicular to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector A. The second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from a side wall of the second camera module 33 away from the first camera module 31 and is parallel to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector B. The first flexible printed circuit 32 and the second flexible printed circuit 34 may extend perpendicularly to each other.

[0040] In some embodiments, the terminal 1000 may further include a third flexible printed circuit 35 connected to the light guide component 332.

[0041] In an embodiment, the camera module may further include a third connector C. The third flexible printed circuit 35 is electrically connected with the circuit board 50 via the third connector C.

[0042] In some embodiments, the third flexible printed circuit 35 extends from a side wall of the light guide component 332 parallel to the arrangement direction, is adjacent to a side wall of the second camera 331, and further extends to exceed an end of the second camera module 33 away from the first camera module 31 to electrically connect to the circuit board 50.

[0043] In some embodiments, the third flexible printed circuit 35 extends from an end of the light guide component 332 being perpendicular to the arrangement direction and away from the first camera module 31 to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50.

[0044] It is to be understood that the first flexible printed circuit 32, the second flexible printed circuit 34, and the third flexible printed circuit 35 can be arranged in the following ways.
    1. (1) Referring to FIG. 10, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from a side wall of the first camera module 31 parallel to the arrangement direction, and is twisted to be parallel to the arrangement direction and adjacent to side walls of the first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33 and further extends to exceed an end of the second camera module 33 away from the first camera module 31 to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector A. The second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from a side wall of the second camera module 33 parallel to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector B. The third flexible printed circuit 35 is twisted to be parallel to the arrangement direction, is adjacent to side walls of the light guide component 332 and the second camera module 33, and further extends to exceed an end of the second camera module 33 away from the first camera module 31 to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector C.
    2. (2) Referring to FIG. 11, the first flexible printed circuit 32 extends from a side wall of the first camera module 31 away from the second camera module 33 and is perpendicular to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector A. The second flexible printed circuit 34 extends from a side wall of the second camera module 33 away from the first camera module 31 and is parallel to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector B. The third flexible printed circuit 35 extends from a side wall of the light guide component 332 away from the first camera module 31 and is parallel to the arrangement direction to realize electrical connection with the circuit board 50 via the connector C.

[0045] In addition, the first flexible printed circuit 32, the second flexible printed circuit 34, and the third flexible printed circuit 35 are arranged in other combinations, and are not exemplified here.

[0046] In some embodiments, a length of the first camera 311 is less than a length of the second camera 331. The length of the second camera 331 is greater than the length of the first camera 311, in order to reduce an overall thickness of the camera module 30 and keep a thickness of the terminal 1000 unchanged. The first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33 are arranged side by side when assembling the first camera module 31 and the second camera module 33. The detail arrangement is as follows.

[0047] The first camera 311, the second camera 331, and the light guide component 332 are arranged side by side to form a "linear" shape. A light exit surface of the second camera 331 faces the first camera module 31 (that is, a light exit surface of the second camera 331 faces the first camera 311). A light exit surface of the light guide component 332 and a light exit surface of the first camera module 31 are arranged in parallel. The light guide component 332 is disposed between the first camera module 31 and the second camera 331. A base 312 of the first camera module 31 abuts against the second camera module 33. For example, the base 312 of the first camera module 31 and the frame 333 of the second camera module 33 are jointed at the bottom of the terminal by glue.

[0048] In the embodiment of the present disclosure, a working principle of the camera module is as follows.

[0049] The first camera module 31 is used at the time of taking a picture. The first camera module 31 is a wide-angle lens. The lens of the first camera module 31 captures a scene behind the terminal 1000, generates an optical image, projects the optical image onto a surface of an image sensor, converts the optical image into an electrical signal, converts the electrical signal into a digital image signal after analog-to-digital conversion, and transmits the digital image signal to a digital signal processing chip for processing to obtain a first image. The second camera module 33 is used at the time of taking a picture. The second camera module 33 is a long-focus lens. External light is transmitted into the second camera 331 by the light guide component 332. The lens of the second camera module 33 captures a scene behind the terminal 1000, generates an optical image, projects the optical image onto a surface of an image sensor, converts the optical image into an electrical signal, converts the electrical signal into a digital image signal after analog-to-digital conversion, and transmits the digital image signal to a digital signal processing chip for processing to obtain a second image. The first image and the second image are combined to obtain a final image.

[0050] In some embodiments, the first camera and the second camera may also be dislocated, as follows.

[0051] The first camera 311 and the second camera 331 are dislocated to form an "L" shape. The first camera module 31 and the light guide component 332 are arranged side by side. The light exit surface of the second camera 331 faces the first camera module 31, and the light exit surface of the light guide component 332 is arranged parallel to the light exit surface of the first camera module 31. The base 312 of the first camera module 31 abuts against the second camera module 33. For example, the base 312 of the first camera module 31 and the frame 333 of the second camera module 33 are jointed at the bottom of the terminal by glue.

[0052] The terminal of the embodiment of the present disclosure changes the arrangement of the flexible printed circuit of the camera module. The flexible printed circuit extends along the arrangement direction of the first camera module and the second camera module to electrically connect to the circuit board, reducing the arrangement space occupied by the camera module on the circuit board of the terminal and reducing the difficulty in the arrangement of the camera module.
