(54)SYSTEM FOR MODULAR CONSTRUCTION OF A BUILDING


(57) The invention relates to a system for the modular construction of a building, which comprises: a first reticular structure comprising a plurality of main pieces (1) configured as beams and pillars that are joined together perpendicularly by means of a plurality of corner joining pieces (8); at least one second structure comprising perimeter edges; a plurality of auxiliary pieces (14) attached to the main pieces (1); and corner pieces (19) attached to the main pieces (1) such that between the auxiliary pieces (14) and the corner pieces (19) at least one channel is created to accommodate the second structure, wherein the second structures are attached by the perimeter edges, by means of the corner pieces (19), to the plurality of main pieces (1) of the first structure, with the main pieces (1) disposed in a single plane for each second structure.




Description

Object of the invention



[0001] The present invention relates to a system for the modular construction of a building with a plurality of pieces configuring a first reticular structure, to which pieces of another configuration are attached, configuring both vertical and horizontal wall faces, and they are attached such that they can later be dismantled, to modify or remove the building being constructed. The system for modular construction object of the invention is applicable in the construction industry.

Technical problem to be resolved and background of the invention



[0002] When a building needs to be constructed in a quick and cost-effective manner, one option is to resort to construction by means of prefabricated structures, which are usually made of concrete and need both specific machinery for being taken to a site and skilled workers for assembling certain prefabs with others. This type of construction has the advantage that the assembly is quick, but it requires a design and construction process with prefabs that requires time, and, furthermore, since its construction material is concrete or the like, it also requires time for setting.

[0003] Another option may consist of constructing based on modules, known as job site trailers or "conches", which are identical modules constructed in metal, the dimensions of which are known and attached, and allows, by means of the interconnection of some modules with others, even two building heights to be constructed. Furthermore, in plan form it allows for the needed extension because some modules can be joined with other modules almost indefinitely. This option has the drawback that the modules used have large dimensions and, accordingly, transport to the point of execution of the construction requires a large number of trucks and an access to the point of execution must be made for trucks with the modules to access it.

[0004] Therefore, in view of the known prior state, the applicant does not known of any system for the modular construction of a building which allows a building to be constructed by workers who are not specifically skilled, while at the same the time it allows, given the technical characteristics of the components of the system, all the components of a building to be packed in one or several containers, depending on the volume of the building to be constructed, such that it is possible to deliver the components for constructing a building without the need for road access.

[0005] Moreover, the applicant does not know of any system for modular construction such as the one described in this specification, which offers the constructive flexibility that allows the building to be expanded with more components of the system, which can also be done by workers without any specific qualifications, and/or also allows the building to be dismantled to change it from the site or to remove it and later use it in another location.

[0006] The applicant knows of document ES 2 397 171 A1, which discloses a system for modular construction, namely erecting, which comprises structural frames and floor slabs intended for being supported on the structural frames, where the structural frames are elements made of reinforced concrete with a rectangular frame and vertical cross-members, and with supporting projections perpendicular to the general plane of the frame where the slabs are supported.

Description of the invention



[0007] The described invention discloses a system for the modular construction of a building, which comprises: a first reticular structure comprising a plurality of main pieces configured as beams and pillars that are joined together perpendicularly by means of a plurality of corner joining pieces; at least one second structure comprising perimeter edges; a plurality of auxiliary pieces attached to the main pieces; and corner pieces attached to the main pieces such that between the auxiliary pieces and the corner pieces at least one channel is created to accommodate the second structure, wherein the second structures are attached by the perimeter edges, by means of the corner pieces, to the plurality of main pieces of the first structure, with the main pieces disposed in a single plane for each second structure.

[0008] In the system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention, the main piece comprises a cross-section with four sides and four corners such that, a corner housing is located in each corner and a side housing is located on each side.

[0009] In the system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention, the main pieces are attached to one another to form the first reticular structure by means of at least one corner joining piece.

[0010] Each corner joining piece comprises a first end comprising a section which reproduces the corner housings and side housings but to be located within the cross-section of the main piece, and a second end comprising four housings configured for connecting a main piece in each housing and a central opening between the four housings configured for receiving another main piece.

[0011] In the system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention, each housing of the second end of the corner joining piece comprises a trapezoidal-shaped recess.

[0012] The main piece is attached to the corner joining piece by means of a connecting piece comprising a complementary end with respect to the housings of the corner joining piece and another end which reproduces the corner housings and side housings of the main piece.

[0013] In the system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention, each auxiliary piece comprises a U-shaped profile incorporating a base for being attached in the side housings of the main piece.

[0014] In the system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention, a second structure comprises at least one floor slab piece configured as a rectangular-shaped body having a planar face and another face with ribbed sheet.

[0015] Another second structure of the system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention comprises at least one wall piece in the form of a rectangular panel with two planar faces.

[0016] In one embodiment, the wall piece comprises an opening in the body with the shape of a rectangular prism, such that once installed in the system for construction object of the invention, the opening represents a window or a door.

[0017] The system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention comprises at least one trim piece comprising a planar portion and a projection configured for being introduced in a side housing of the main piece, such that said side housing is covered in the event that it is exposed while erecting the system for modular construction.

[0018] The system for the modular construction of a building object of the invention comprises at least one end piece comprising a planar surface with at least one clamp which is attached in the opening between two wall pieces, such that the existence of sharp edges and openings in the building that is constructed with the system is prevented.

[0019] The system for the modular construction of a building comprises at least one exterior piece with an attachment element which is coupled in the auxiliary piece of a main piece.

[0020] In the system for the modular construction of a building, the corner piece comprises two surfaces configured for contacting the exterior pieces, the floor slab pieces, or the wall pieces. It also comprises a visible surface and a projection configured for being introduced in a corner housing of a main piece.

[0021] With the configuration of the different pieces that have been described, a building can be erected based on the connection of the different pieces forming the system object of the invention, without required skilled workers to that end, because the different pieces are gradually placed in an orderly manner and attached to one another with the auxiliary pieces and the corner pieces. Furthermore the system object of the invention allows the building to be both erected and dismantled, and the configuration of the building to be modified given that dismantling parts of the already erected building is simple.

[0022] Likewise, given the modular character of the system object of the invention and how simple it is to apply, an already erected building may be expanded by means of dismantling some pieces and installing other additional pieces, which are installed in a simple manner on main pieces which are not removed and are used as the basis for the expansion.

[0023] Furthermore, due to the shape of all the pieces forming part of the system for modular construction object of the invention, being planar pieces, linear pieces and small-sized pieces, they can all be packed in a standard twenty-foot container or larger, and transported to an area where an easy access is not possible because everything needed for constructing the building is located inside the container.

Description of the figures



[0024] To complete the description, and for the purpose of helping to make the features of the invention more readily understandable, this specification is accompanied by a set of drawings constituting an integral part of the same, which by way of illustration and not limitation represent the following:

Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a first structure formed by five main pieces, four sectioned horizontal pieces joined to one vertical piece, two at the upper end by means of a corner joining piece and two at the lower end by means of a ground piece.

Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the first structure of Figure 1 with a plurality of auxiliary pieces placed.

Preferred embodiment of the invention



[0026] As indicated, and as can be seen in the figures, the object of the invention is a system for the modular construction of a building, which comprises a plurality of pieces connected to one another by means of mechanical coupling with clamping, i.e., a pressure, such that they can be connected to erect the building and the pieces can later be disconnected to dismantle the building. Furthermore, given the singularity of the pieces and how they are attached to one another, they can be stored in a shipping container for later use.

[0027] The system comprises a plurality of main pieces (1), which are tubular pieces with a cross-section which, in the preferred embodiment of the invention comprises four sides and four corners, such that a corner housing (2) is located in each corner and a side housing (3) is located in the center of each side.

[0028] The corner housings (2) have circular section with an access opening for access to the corner housing (2) itself. The side housings (3) have an access opening (4), a planar bottom (5) and two curved sides (6) configured for creating retention.

[0029] To configure part of the building, a plurality of main pieces (1) are joined to one another, with two options. If two main pieces (1) need to be joined longitudinally, a longitudinal joining piece (not depicted in the figures) which is attached in the interior of two main pieces (1) at the ends thereof is used. Si a corner of the building needs to be constructed or main pieces (1) need to be joined to one another in the horizontal and vertical positions, a corner joining piece (8) defined below in this specification is used. To connect the main pieces (1) to the corner joining piece (8), the main pieces (1) incorporate a connecting piece (not shown in the figures) at the end of the main piece (1) which will be joined with the corner joining piece (8).

[0030] The longitudinal joining piece is a symmetrical piece comprising two identical projections for being attached in the interior of the cross-section of a main piece (1); it therefore comprises a section which reproduces the corner housings (2) and side housings (3), but to be located within the cross-section of the main piece (1), such that the side housings (3) of two longitudinally attached main pieces (1) configure a side groove.

[0031] The corner joining piece (8) comprises:
  • a first end (10) comprising a section which reproduces the corner housings (2) and the side housings (3) but to be located within the cross-section of the main piece (1), and
  • a second end comprising four housings (11) configured for connecting a main piece (1) in each housing (11), preferably by means of a connecting piece, a central opening (12) between the four housings (11), said central opening (12) configured for receiving the end of a main piece (1) if another main piece (1) is to be placed in the vertical position.


[0032] Therefore with the corner joining piece (8), an end of a main piece (1) in the vertical position can be joined with up to four main pieces (1) in the horizontal position and with another main piece (1) in the vertical position.

[0033] It should be noted that just as the first end (10) of the corner joining piece (8) reproduces the interior cross-section of the main piece (1), the central opening (12) of the second end, however, is a parallelogram which reproduces the exterior cross-section of the main piece (1).

[0034] The housings (11) of the corner joining piece (8) comprise a trapezoidal-shaped recess (9) with the smaller side located in the lower part of the trapezoid, such that, due to its own weight, the main piece (1) introduced in the recess (9) is accommodated therein and attached to the corner joining piece (8) and, therefore, attached to a main piece (1) located in the vertical position.

[0035] The connecting piece (not depicted in the figures) using the main pieces (1) for being attached to the corner joining piece (8) comprises a complementary end with respect to the housings (11) of the corner joining piece (8) and another end configured for being tightly introduced in the main piece (1), reproducing the corner housings (2) and the side housings (3) of the main piece (1).

[0036] To set the building on the ground, the system for modular construction object of the invention comprises ground pieces (13), which consist of an end with a pedestal (15) for being placed on the ground and another end configured for receiving the first end (10) of the corner joining piece (8) not containing the housings (11).

[0037] By attaching main pieces (1) with corner joining pieces (8), longitudinal joining pieces (not depicted in the figures) and ground pieces, the system for modular construction object of the invention allows constructing a first reticular structure on which other components are later attached to carry out the interior partitioning, the exterior cladding and the floor slabs of the building.

[0038] The first reticular structure can be supported on the ground by means of ground pieces (13), as discussed.

[0039] To continue with the construction of the building, the system for modular construction object of the invention comprises an auxiliary piece (14) which is attached to the side housings (3) of the main piece (1), such that it divides the sides of the main piece (1) into two halves. Furthermore, the auxiliary piece (14) serves to support and attach other components of the system for modular construction object of the invention set forth below in this specification.

[0040] The auxiliary piece (14) is a U-shaped profile incorporating a base for being attached in the side housings (3). Depending on the position in which it is going to be located in the building, it serves to hold the floor frame or the wall.

[0041] The system for construction object of the invention also comprises, to construct floor slabs of the building, a plurality of floor slab pieces (16) placed one after the other, such that each floor slab piece (16) is a rectangular piece having a planar side and another side with ribbed sheet. Each floor slab of the building requires four main pieces (1) to which there are attached four auxiliary pieces (14) on which the floor slab profiles (16) are supported as follows: at one end of the floor slab and on the longest side of the rectangle of the floor slab piece (16), a first floor slab piece (16) is supported on a first auxiliary piece (14) in turn attached to a first main piece (1), and on the shortest sides of the rectangle, the floor slab piece (16) is supported on a second auxiliary piece (14) and a third auxiliary piece (14), in turn attached to a second main piece (1) and to a third main piece (1) which are perpendicular to the first main piece (1) and parallel to one another, at the end of the floor slab opposite the preceding one. Additionally, other floor slab pieces (16) which are joined to the first floor slab piece (16), supporting each of their smaller sides, respectively, on the second auxiliary piece (14) and the third auxiliary piece (14). In addition to supporting its smaller sides on the second auxiliary piece (14) and the third auxiliary piece (14), the last floor slab piece (16) supports a larger side on a fourth auxiliary piece (14) attached to a fourth main piece (1), which is parallel to the first main piece (1).

[0042] The preceding configuration of floor slab pieces (16) supported on auxiliary pieces (14), considering the section of a main piece (1) covers half of one of a side of the main piece (1). Here it should be borne in mind that the auxiliary pieces (14) divide the sides of the main piece (1) into two halves, since they are attached on the side housings (3), which are located in the center of each side of the section of the main piece (1).

[0043] The system object of the invention also comprises wall pieces (17) which are rectangular panels configured for being placed between main pieces (1), similarly to the floor slab pieces (16), although instead of being supported on the auxiliary pieces (14), they are fitted therein. Namely, they are placed supported on one of the side halves generated by the auxiliary pieces (14) in the main pieces (1). The attachment of the wall pieces (17) to the main pieces (1) is completed using corner pieces (19) which, located in the corner housings (2) of the main pieces (1), create a channel together with the auxiliary pieces (14) in each of the halves of the main piece (1) where the wall piece (17) is inserted. The corner pieces (19) are described below in further detail.

[0044] In the case of the exterior cladding of the building, preferably two wall pieces (17) are used in each main piece (1), each one located on one side of the auxiliary piece (14), i.e., between the auxiliary piece (14) and one of the two corner pieces (19), parallel to one another.

[0045] When constructing a building, namely in the interior distribution of the rooms of said building, there are usually parts of a main piece (1) left exposed rendering a side housing (3) of the mentioned main piece (1) accessible which are left exposed in the building and must be covered. To cover parts of the main piece (1) left exposed, the system object of the invention comprises trim pieces (21) which are pieces comprising a planar portion (22) the length of which corresponds with the length of the main piece (1) and a projection (23) which is introduced in the side housing (3) that must be covered. Therefore, there is continuous ground in the building that is constructed with the system for modular construction object of the invention.

[0046] In the system for construction of the invention, openings are intended to be left in the wall pieces (17) for doors or windows. Therefore, there may be wall pieces (17) configured with the corresponding dimensions for leaving these openings prepared. However, since these openings are located in exterior walls which, as indicated, preferably incorporate two parallel wall pieces (17) leaving an opening corresponding to the auxiliary piece (14), this opening must be covered. To that end, the system for modular construction object of the invention comprises end pieces (7), which comprise a planar surface with clamps (24) located in the opening corresponding to the auxiliary piece (14), between the two wall pieces (17), such that the opening of the window or door is configured perimeter-wise based on planar surfaces (26) without openings, including, in the case of a door, a trim piece (21) in the main piece (1) located in the lower area.

[0047] The system object of the invention comprises exterior pieces (18) located on the entire profile of the main piece (1) and having an attachment element which is coupled in the auxiliary piece (14) attached to the side housing (3) of the main piece (1), having similar dimensions, such that they are tightly attached.

[0048] For the attachment of all the elements set forth above, as previously discussed, the system object of the invention comprises corner pieces (19) which are attached to the corner housings (2) of the main piece (1). The corner pieces (19) have a triangular section such that two sides of the triangle provide the surface contacting the exterior pieces (18), the floor slab pieces (16) or the wall pieces (17), and a third side of the triangle provides a surface that is left visible.

[0049] Furthermore, for attachment to the main piece (1), the corner pieces (19) comprise a projection (20) which is introduced in the corner housing (2) of the main piece (1) to which the corner piece (19) is attached.

[0050] Finally, it should be understood that the invention no should not be taken as being limited to the embodiments described herein. Persons skilled in the art can develop other embodiments in view of the description made herein. Accordingly, the scope of the invention is defined by the following claims.


Claims

1. System for the modular construction of a building, which comprises: a first reticular structure comprising a plurality of main pieces (1) configured as beams and pillars that are joined together perpendicularly at the ends by means of a plurality of corner joining pieces (8) and a second structure comprising wall pieces (17), characterized in that:

- the second structure comprises floor slab pieces (16), and

the system additionally comprises:

- a plurality of auxiliary pieces (14),

- corner pieces (19),

wherein:

- the main piece (1) is a tubular piece with a cross-section comprising four sides and four corners, such that a corner housing (2) is located in each corner and a side housing (3) is located on each side,

- the corner joining piece (8) comprises:

- a first end (10) comprising a section which reproduces the corner housings (2) and the side housings (3) but to be located within the cross-section of the main piece (1), and

- a second end comprising four housings (11), configured for connecting a main piece (1) in each housing (11), and a central opening (12) between the four housings (11), configured for receiving another main piece (1),

- the auxiliary piece (14) comprises a U-shaped profile and is configured for being attached to the main piece (1) longitudinally along the side housings (3),

- the corner pieces (19) are configured for being attached to the main pieces (1) longitudinally along the corner housings (2) creating, together with the auxiliary pieces (14), at least one channel in each main piece (1) to accommodate the second structure.


 
2. System for the modular construction of a building according to claim 1, characterized in that:

- each housing (11) of the corner joining piece (8) comprises a trapezoidal-shaped recess (9),

- the main piece (1) is attached to the corner joining piece (8) by means of a connecting piece comprising a complementary end with respect to the housings (11) of the corner joining piece (8) and another end which reproduces the corner housings (2) and the side housings (3) of the main piece (1).


 
3. System for the modular construction of a building according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the floor slab piece (16) comprises a rectangular-shaped body having a planar face and another face with ribbed sheet.
 
4. System for the modular construction of a building according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the wall piece (17) comprises a body in the form of a rectangular panel with two planar faces.
 
5. System for the modular construction of a building according to claim 4, characterized in that the wall piece (17) comprises an opening in the body with the shape of a rectangular prism.
 
6. System for the modular construction of a building according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises at least one trim piece (21), comprising a planar portion (22) and a projection (23) configured for being introduced in a side housing (3) of the main piece (1).
 
7. System for the modular construction of a building according to any of claims 5 or 6, characterized in that it comprises at least one end piece (7) comprising a planar surface with a clamp (24) which is attached in the opening between two wall pieces (17).
 
8. System for the modular construction of a building according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that it comprises at least one exterior piece (18), comprising a rectangular profile with an attachment element which is coupled in an auxiliary piece (14) of a main piece (1).
 
9. System for the modular construction of a building according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the corner pieces (19) comprise:

- two surfaces configured for contacting the exterior pieces (18), the floor slab pieces (16) or the wall pieces (17),

- a visible surface, and

- a projection (20) configured for being introduced in a corner housing (2) of a main piece (1).
