(54)SURGICAL ACCESS DEVICE WITH AN ANCHOR AND A REMOVABLE RETAINER


(57) A surgical access device includes an instrument valve housing including a cannula extending distally from the instrument valve housing. The cannula defines a longitudinal axis. An anchor is supported at a distal end portion of the cannula. A retainer is configured to be removably engaged with cannula. The retainer includes a first member defining a semi-circular shape. The first member defines a first arm having a first lateral surface, and a second arm having a second lateral surface. A first magnet is positioned in the first arm and a second magnet is positioned in the second arm. A second member defines a semi-circular shape. The second member defines a third arm having a third lateral surface, and a fourth arm having a fourth lateral surface. A third magnet is positioned in the third arm and a fourth magnet is positioned in the fourth arm.
