(57) Es wird ein Verfahren zur Elektrolyse von Salzsäure zur Herstellung von Chlor und Wasserstoff nach dem Diaphragmaverfahren beschrieben, nachdem die Elektrolyse mehrstufig durchgeführt wird und die Sole nach jeder Elektrolysestufe vor Eintritt in die jeweils nächste Stufe entgast wird. Ferner wird eine für das Verfahren geeignete Elektrolysezelle beschrieben.
