Sur le bord d'une lame usuelle en acier 1 sont rapportés, par exemple par brasage, des petits blocs diamantés 2 qui opèrent la coupe du matériau à sectionner. Une telle lame peut être fixée à la manière habituelle sur les poulies d'une scie à ruban.
