(57) A method of building a cavity wall including the step of embedding in the leaves of the cavity wall a tie to locate them in position characterised in that a tie is used in which at least the portions which are located in the walls and adjacent to the leaves of the wall are of spiral form and obtained by twisting a flat strip of metal.
