(57) @ A paperboard container and a method and apparatus for producing it are disclosed.
A relatively deep central portion of the container, having a side wall with at least
one tightly-radiused corner portion, is formed in a first forming step, after which
a second, preferably peripheral region is formed. The second region preferably comprises
a ledge or shoulder formed in the side wall of the container and spaced from both
the top and the bottom of the side wall. A top piece preferably rests on the ledge
or shoulder, and serves as a lid.
