    Description

    [0001] The present invention is concerned with an assembling device for continuous skylights with free expansion and without intermediate locking screws. A similar device has been represented and descrined in Italian patent Nr. 1 149 764. The assembling device described in said application presents the peculiar drawback of a relatively complicated construction particularly regarding the connection block of the upper beam with the lower beam, the centering and spacing of the upper beam with respect to the lower beam and finally positioning of the lower beam besides an excessive overall weight and high costs of the extrusion dies.

    [0002] From GB-A-1 361 643 a skylight structure according to the preamble of the claim is known, in which arch-shaped upper and lower beams are provided for supporting glass covering panels and in which the upper and lower beams are directly fastened by bolts to a peripheral frame. This prevents in said skylight to use panels of different thickness in the same structure as well as in different skylight structures as required; furthermore no thermal insulation is provided between the upper and lower beam.

    [0003] The object of present invention is to provide an assembling device for skylight structures allowing to simplify the construction and the assembling of different types of skylights reducing at the same time their costs.

    [0004] According to the invention, there is provided an assembling device for continuous skylights having arch-shaped upper and lower beams for supporting glass covering panels, said upper and lower beams being connected to lateral eaves and glass panel fastening members hooked to said eaves characterized in that provision is made for U-shaped, rib reinforced, connection blocks to connect the beams to the eaves, each of said U-shaped blocks presenting a hole for the passage of a bolt, said bolt engaging with an omega (0) shaped projection on the upper beam, the latter being maintained centered and spaced with regard to the lower beam by spacers of polyamide fiber glass reinforced material, said panel fastening members extending between the connection blocks and comprising a U-shaped profile engaging a rib on the eaves, and a positioning member to retain said lower beam to said eaves, said positioning member having a cylindrical projection passing through a hole in the eaves.

    [0005] The above features and advantages of the invention will result better from the following description of its embodiment shown in the annexed drawings, wherein:

    The Fig. 1 shows by a perspective way and partially the device according to the invention;

    The Figures 2 and 3 respectively show a sectional view according to the line II-II of Fig. 3 and an elevational view according to the arrow FA of the connection block;

    The Fig. 4 shows an outline of the glass-stop;

    The Figures 5 and 6 respectively show the upper beam and the lower beam, between the two beams being represented the spacer- centering member of the upper beam;

    The Fig. 7 shows an outline of the eaves; it is observed that the Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7 represent an exploded view of the essential components of the device;

    The Fig. 8 represents a longitudinal sectional view of the device, passing through the connection block;

    The Fig. 9 is a sectional view as Fig. 8 in a plane spaced apart from the connection block, namely through the glass-stop;

    The Figures 10 and 11 represent respectively a top view and a sectional view according to the line XI-XI of Fig. 10 of the positioning member for the lower beam;

    The Fig. 12 schematically shows a sectional view of a skylight comprising the assembling device according to the invention.

    [0006] With reference to the said drawings BU shows the U-profiled union or connection block better visible in the Figures 2 and 3, the said block being moulded from fiber glass reinforced "NORYL" (Trade Mark) and suitably presenting a hole FO and stiffening ribs NE for reinforcement purposes. By a known manner provision is made for a lower beam TI (Fig. 8), an upper beam TS and an alveolar plasticified glass covering panel VE between the two beams. For a vault skylight from Fig. 12 may been inferred the typical configuration. With GR there is referred the eaves made, as the two beams, by extruded aluminum profiles the said eaves being better visible in Fig. 7. FV shows the glass-stop made by extrusion and cooperating with the eaves GR as better shown in Fig. 1.

    [0007] The lower beam TI is positioned by a positioning member PO better visible in the Figures 10, 11 and presents a depression IN for accommodating the lower beam, and a cylindrical projection RK passing through a hole FF of the eaves.

    [0008] By a known manner the upper beam is formed with an omega (O)-profiled projection RI centered with respect to the midline whereas the lower beam presents a U-profiled projection RU between the said two projections being provided a spacer member DI made of reinforced fiber glass polyamide resins.

    [0009] By a known way between the two beams plastic, glass alveolar panels VE are inserted.

    [0010] For tensioning the upper beam it is sufficient to sling the two branches RT'-RT2 between the eaves and the upper beam and thereafter to assemble the tensioning bolt BB until the requested assembling tension is obtained.

    [0011] It is evident that the linear expansions of the upper beam are compensated. As it is observed from the Figures 2 and 3 the lower branch RT' of the connection block is profiled with a projection RS and cooperates with a nose NL of the eaves GR.
