    (54) Device for waving hair

    (57) The device for waving hair, object of the present invention, has a pliers-structure and is equipped with at least one incorporated electric heater. An arm of the pliers is made up by at least one circular-section element (13), while the other arm (15) is made up by at least one grooved element, in whose groove the circular-section fits, thus clasping the hair lock to be treated. The device incorporates at least one sliding toothed element (12) mounted on at least one arm of the pliers.

    Description

    [0001] This invention refers to a device for waving hair, which offers considerable advantages of practicality and aesthetic results compared with the existing devices used to the same purpose.

    [0002] In the existing pliers-structure devices, an arm of the pliers has a straight and fixed form and when pliers are closing the arm fits in the straight-groove shaped hollow on the opposite arm of the pliers. This type of device generally gives hair continuous and uniform regular waves, as curlings of varied form and aspect cannot be obtained. Besides, a long experience is necessary to obtain a good result.

    [0003] The device according to this invention permits to obtain varied and multiform hair waves, with completely new and original aesthetic effects, and the operator needs not have much experience.

    [0004] The device for hair waving object of this invention has a pliers-structure and is equipped with at least one incorporated electric heater. An arm of the pliers is made up by at least one circular-section element, while the other arm is made up by at least one grooved element, in whose groove the circular-section element fits, thus clasping the hair lock to be treated. The device incorporates at least one sliding toothed element mounted on at least one arm of the pliers.

    [0005] You can also think of other makings in which an arm of the pliers incorporates at least two circular-section elements, while the other arm of the pliers incorporates at least two grooved elements.

    [0006] To each of the elements which make up an arm of the pliers a sliding toothed element is fixed, and these toothed elements are connected to each by means of connections that enable them to make movings of same excursion and opposite sense.

    [0007] The characteristics and advantages of the device according to this invention will be illustrated in detail in the following description which refers is made to the enclosed figures of which:
    • fig. 1 is a side view of a first making of the device for hair waving, object of this invention;
    • fig. 2 is a side view of a second making of the device for hair waving, object of this invention;
    • fig. 3 is a side view of a third making of the device, object of this invention;
    • fig. 4 is a top view of the device of fig. 3;
    • fig. 5 is a front view of the device of fig. 3 and fig. 4.

    [0008] With reference to fig. 1 and to the relative numerical symbols, it is to be noticed that the device according to this invention has a pliers-structure which is opened and closed by means of arms 16, 17 that rotate around a pin which is not visible in the figure. Arm 16 continues in the grooved element 15 (the groove is not visible in the figure), while arm 17 continues in its turn in the circular-section element 13. Arm 17 is connected by means of a wire (not visible in the figure) to a socket which supplies the electric energy that starts a resistance which is usually incorporated in element 13. On the grooved element 15 a toothed, generally comb-shaped element is mounted 12, which has a little knob 11 and a set of eyelets 18 and which can slide along a way made up by two pins 14. Having clasped the lock between elements 13 and 15, the operator waits for a few seconds until the lock has heated, then he makes the comb slide by pulling it by means of knob 11.

    [0009] Fig. 2 shows a second making of the device object of this invention. The only difference from the device of fig. 1 lies in that comb 22, instead of being mounted on the grooved element 25 is placed on the circular-section element 23 which has the eletric resistance on the inside.

    [0010] Figg. 3, 4, 5 show another making of the device subject of this invention. Basically, in this making two of the devices described in fig. 2 are coupled side by side. It is to be noticed both circular-section elements 33 and 34, the double-grooved element 37, both combs 35 and 36 which have eyelets 310 and which can slide along two ways made up by pins 38 and 39.

    [0011] Another very important detail of the device is the metal wire 311 which by means of controls 312 and 313 connects combs 35 and 36. One can obviously think of connection means other than the wire 311, enabling both sliding toothed elements 35,36 to make contemporary movings of same excursion and opposite direction. By pulling knob 31 outwards, the operator makes comb 35 slide in the same direction, while comb 35 moves in its turn in the opposite direction; the contrary happens when the operator pulls knob 32 outwards. Nothing prevents from placing the combs on the side of the grooved element 37, in another possible making not shown in the figures.

    [0012] Elements 13, 15, 23, 25 of figures 1 and 2 and elements 33, 34 and 37 of figures 3, 4 and 5 are made of a good heat conductor metal, possibly an aluminium light alloy.

    [0013] With the device having one sliding element (figures 1 and 2), hair waiving is obtained by the following method:

    a) bring the device to the wished temperature;

    b) clasp the lock, keeping the sliding element in back position;

    c) have the sliding element slide forwards, and keep it in this position for 10-12 seconds;

    d) open the device and move it along the lock as necessary;

    e) clasp the lock;

    f) place the sliding element in the original back position and keep it for 10-12 seconds;

    g) open the device, move it along the lock and start again from b), etc.

    [0014] With the device having two sliding elements (figures 3, 4 and 5), hair waiving is obtained by the following method:

    a) bring the device to the wished temperature;

    b) clasp the lock keeping both sliding elements parallel;

    c) exert a traction on knob 36, so that one sliding element moves forwards, while the other sliding element moves backwards, and keep this position for 10-12 seconds;

    d) open the device and move it along the lock as necessary;

    e) clasp the lock;

    f) handle knob 36 so that both sliding elements move in contrary sense compared to operation c), and keep this position for 10-12 seconds;

    g) open the device, move it along the lock and start again from b), etc.

    By using the device according to this invention, high quality aesthetic results are obtained and the operator needs not have much experience.
