    (54) Fast CMOS bus receiver for detecting low voltage swings

    (57) A bus receiver (10) includes a differential input amplifier circuit (18, 18'), a pair of source followers (16, 16'), and a sense amp (12) having sense and latch modes. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the bus receiver (10) is implemented as a CMOS large scale integrated circuit comprising a plurality of FETs (20-34, 20'-34'), and is capable of detecting +/- 0.2 volt transition of a data signal (SIG IN) relative to a reference voltage (VREF) for data signals having setup times as low as about 1 nanosecond.
