(54) Block selection review and editing system


(57) A system for editing the hierarchical tree structure which is created by a block selection system to correspond to a block template of a document image, wherein the hierarchical tree structure includes a plurality of nodes, each of which represents a block of image data in the block template of a document image and contains feature data defining features of the block of image data. The system operates to download from memory the hierarchical tree structure, generate and display a block template of a document image corresponding to the hierarchical tree structure in memory, select a block of image data to be edited in the block template of a document image, edit the selected block of image data and update the feature data in a node corresponding to the selected block of image data. The system determines whether the remaining feature data in the node has been affected by updated feature data, and, if so, the remaining feature data is altered to appropriately reflect the new feature of the selected block of image data. The system also determines whether any of the features of the remaining nodes have been affected by the new feature of the selected block of image data, and, if so, feature data in the affected nodes are appropriately altered to reflect the new features of its corresponding block of image data.
