[0001] The invention relates to a packet of toweling adapted to be dispensed for hand drying according to the preamble of the main claim.

[0002] A packet of this type is known from EP-A- 0.241.095 which is considered as the closest state of the art.

[0003] The objects of the invention are to maximise the properties of use on the one hand, such as assuring both high tensile wet strength and high liquid absorption and avoiding delamination after hand drying, and to facilitate the adding and coupling of refill packets to the packet already in use in the apparatus on the other hand .

[0004] These objects are reached by the invention by the measures described in the characterizing part of the main claim and of those of the sub claims, which describe preferred embodiments.

[0005] The invention will now further be described with reference to the accompanying drawing of some preferred embodiments.

[0006] Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, in a preferred embodiment, the upper surface of the end fold of every packet 1 of toweling product 2 in a supply chamber 10 having a bottom 11 of a (not shown) dispenser is provided with a layer or band 3 of a suitable adhesive. The adhesive band 3 may be applied by means of a hot melt applicator (not shown) or any other suitable means. A T-shaped release paper cover 4 is placed over the adhesive layer 3 on the top fold of the packet 1 to be temporarily secured thereto. The cover 4 is folded back upon itself about a fold line 5 such that a lower first surface portion 6 overlies and is in contact with the adhesive layer 3. The upper folded portion 7 includes the pull tab 8 which extends outwardly beyond the vertical front face of the packet 1. The fold line 5 is disposed to lie along the rear edge of the paper cover 4 farthest from the vertical front face of the packet 1. After a similar packet 1 (not shown) is inserted into the opening 9 of the supply chamber 10, the pull tab 8 is grasped by hand and slowly pulled out, so that the cover 4 is stripped from the adhesive 3 on the top fold of the lower packet 1, beginning at the fold line 5 at the rear edge and proceeding forwardly. The uncovered adhesive layer 3 then attaches directly to the bottom fold of the similar refill packet 1 lying thereover thereby providing a connection for a continuous web of product 2. The adhesive connection may be enhanced by simply pressing the upper packet 1 downwardly against the lower. The underside of the lower first surface portion 6 of the cover 4 is preferably coated with the release agent to facilitate its stripping from the adhesive layer 3. A preferred release agent comprises a silicone coating.

[0007] Referring to Fig. 3, a preferred embodiment of the reinforced paper web 2 includes a reinforcing fabric 12 of synthetic threads, such as polyester, disposed on a grid-like pattern comprising longitudinally extending threads 13 and transversely extending threads 14. The grid-like pattern of reinforcement provides strength in all directions in the plane of the web 2 to provide a tensile strength which is sufficient to prevent tearing during manual withdrawal of the web from the dispenser, during use in drying the hands, and when subsequently automatically rolled up on the storage roller of the dispenser(not shown). The web 2 is preferably formed by placing the synthetic fabric 12 between two layers 15 of preferably white kraft tissue paper and running the laminate 2 of paper 15 and fabric 12 between the nip of a pair of heating and pressurizing rolls (not shown). The synthetic fabric 12 is preferably made with a more closely spaced pattern of longitudinally extending threads 13 and fewer or less closely spaced transversely extending threads 14. Also the longitudinally extending threads 14 may be of a slightly larger section and, therefore, individually stronger than the threads 14. For example, the fabric 12 may comprise a pattern of 3 longitudinal threads per centimeter of web width and 0.8 transverse threads per centimeter of web length. In one preferred embodiment, the threads 13 are of 0.0167 g/m (167 Detex) and the threads 14 are of 0.0140 g/m ( 140 Detex). The resulting tensile strength of the fabric 12 is more than four times greater in the longitudinal direction 3000 N/m (15daN/5cm) than in the transverse direction 680 N/m (3,5daN/5cm). Elasticity at rupture in longitudinal direction is about 32 % and in transverse direction about 26 %. The fabric has been impregnated with a ethylene vinylacetate adhesive.

[0008] The preferred adhesive for the band 3 is a mixture of hydrocarbons, waxes and resins. The color of the adhesive is at maximum 0,5 according to the ASTM standard. The softening point of the glue lies between 72 and 78 degrees centrigrade.

[0009] The viscosity measured at 130 degrees centrigrade lies between 5 and 7 g/ms (5000 and 7000 milli-poise).

Claims

1. A packet (1) of toweling (2) for single use adapted to be dispensed for hand drying from an apparatus having a supply chamber (10) from which the toweling (2) is manually withdrawn for use and a storage roller operable in response to the withdrawal of toweling (2) to roll up and store the used wet toweling (2), said packet (1) comprising a zigzag folded, continuous web (2) of paper material extending between first and second web ends, said paper material (2) having a reinforcement comprising a fabric of synthetic threads for providing said web with a tensile strength sufficient to prevent tearing during withdrawal, use and rolling up, said web having an adhesive area (3) on the exposed surface adjacent to one of said ends by which an additional, similar packet (1) may be joined to said packet (1), said adhesive area having a removable paper cover (4), characterized in that said reinforcement threads being disposed in a grid-like pattern with the threads extending in directions longitudinally (13) and transversely (14) of the paper web (2), said longitudinally extending threads being more closely spaced than said transversely extending threads, and the removable paper cover of the adhesive area comprises a first surface portion (6) having a low adhesive coating in contact with the adhesive area (3) and an pull tab (8) which is integral with an upper folded portion (7) and which is extending beyond one vertical front face of said packet when the packet of toweling (2) is disposed into the supply chamber (10) of the apparatus and adapted to permit said paper cover (4) to be pulled out from between this packet (1) and a similar packet (1) disposed with the other of its said ends in contact therewith, the paper cover (4) being folded back upon itself about a fold line (5) such that said first surface portion (6) of said paper cover (4) overlies substantially the entire adhesive area (3).

2. A packet according to claim 1, characterized in that said pull tab (8) comprises a folded portion (7) of said cover (3) extending from the fold line (5) between said tab (8) and said first surface portion (6), said fold line (5) lying along the edge of said cover (4) farthest away from said one vertical front face.

3. A packet according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that said pull tab (8) comprises a T-shaped release paper cover (4) folded on itself about the fold line (5), the branch (8) of the T protrudes from the packet (1) and forms a pull tab (8) for removal from in between two stacked packets (1, 1).

4. A packet of toweling according to claims 1-3, characterized in that the low adhesive coating (3) on said first surface portion comprises a release agent.

Ansprüche

1. Ein Paket (1) von einmal zu benutzenden Handtüchern (2), welche zum Trocknen der Hände aus einer Vorrichtung ausgegeben werden, die einen Ausgabebehälter (10) aufweist, aus dem das Handtuch (2) manuell zum Gebrauch herausgezogen wird, und eine Speicherrolle, die im Hinblick auf das Abziehen des Handtuches (2) in der Lage ist, das benutzte, nasse Handtuch (2) aufzurollen und zu speichern, wobei das Paket (1) eine zickzack-gefaltete, zusammenhängende Bahn (2) aus Papiermaterial aufweist, die sich zwischen einem ersten und einem zweiten Bahnende erstreckt, wobei das Papiermaterial (2) eine Verstärkung hat, welche ein Gitter aus Kunststoffäden zum Versehen der Bahn mit einer Zugfestigkeit aufweist, die ausreicht, um ein Reissen während dem Herausziehen, dem Gebrauch und dem Aufrollen zu verhindern, wobei die Bahn einen Klebebereich (3) auf der freien Oberfläche nahe an einem der Enden aufweist, durch den ein zusätzliches, ähnliches Paket (1) mit dem eben genannten Paket (1) verbunden werden kann, wobei der Klebebereich eine entfernbare Papierabdeckung (4) aufweist,
dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dass die Verstärkungsfäden in einem gitterartigen Muster mit Fäden angeordnet sind, die sich in Längsrichtung (13) und in Querrichtung (14) der Papierbahn (2) erstrecken, wobei die sich in Längsrichtung erstreckenden Fäden näher zueinander angeordnet sind als die sich in Querrichtung erstreckenden Fäden, und die wegnehmbare Papierabdeckung des Klebebereiches einen ersten Oberflächenbereich (6) aufweist, der eine geringer klebende Beschichtung in Kontakt mit dem Klebebereich (3) und einen Abziehstreifen (8) aufweist, der ein integraler Bestandteil eines oberen, gefalteten Bereiches (7) ist und der sich über eine vertikale Frontseite des Pakets hinaus erstreckt, wenn das Paket von Handtüchern (2) in den Ausgabebehälter (10) der Vorrichtung eingelegt wird, und der dazu geeignet ist, es der Papierabdeckung (4) zu erlauben, aus dem Zwischenraum zwischen dem Paket (1) und einem ähnlichen Paket (1) herausgezogen zu werden, welches mit dem anderen von seinem Ende in Kontakt mit diesem steht, wobei die Papierabdeckung (4) auf sich selbst, um eine Faltlinie (5) zurückgefaltet ist, so dass der erste Oberflächenbereich (6) der Papierabdeckung (4) im wesentlichen auf dem gesamten Klebebereich (3) aufliegt.

2. Paket nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Abziehstreifen einen gefalteten Bereich (7) der Abdeckung (3) aufweist, der sich von der Faltlinie (5) zwischen dem streifen (8) und dem ersten Oberflächenbereich (6) erstreckt, wobei die Faltlinie (5) entlang der Kante der Abdeckung (4) am weitesten entfernt von der vertikalen Frontfläche liegt.

3. Paket nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Abziehstreifen (3) eine T-förmige frei Papierabdeckung (4) aufweist, die über sich selbst um die Faltlinie (5) gefaltet ist, wobei der Stamm (8) des T von dem Paket (1) abragt und einen Abziehstreifen (8) zum Wegziehen von zwischen zwei aufeinander angeordneten Paketen (1) ausbildet.

4. Handtuchpaket nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die geringer klebende Beschichtung (3) auf dem ersten Oberflächenbereich ein Lösrmittel umfasst.

Revendications

1. Paquet (1) de serviettes (2) à usage unique apte à être distribué pour sécher les mains à partir d'un appareil qui inclut une chambre de réserve (10) à partir de laquelle la serviette (2) est extraite manuellement pour être utilisée et un rouleau de stockage qui peut intervenir en réponse à l'extraction de la serviette (2) pour enrouler et emmagasiner la serviette humide utilisée (2), ledit paquet (1) comprenant une bande continue (2) de matière de papier, pliée en zigzag qui s'étend entre une première et une deuxième extrémités de la bande, ladite matière de papier (2) étant pourvue d'un renforcement qui comprend une étoffe de fils synthétiques pour conférer à ladite bande une résistance à la traction suffisante pour l'empêcher d'être déchirée pendant son extraction, son utilisation et son enroulement, ladite bande comportant sur la surface exposée adjacente à l'une desdites extrémités une zone adhésive (3) par laquelle un paquet additionnel semblable (1) peut être assemblé audit paquet (1), ladite zone adhésive comportant un recouvrement amovible de papier (4), caractérisé en ce que lesdits fils de renforcement sont disposés selon une configuration en forme de grille, dans laquelle les fils s'étendent dans des directions longitudinale (13) et transversale (14) par rapport à la bande de papier (2), lesdits fils s'étendant longitudinalement étant plus rapprochés que lesdits fils s'étendant transversalement, et ledit recouvrement amovible de papier de la zone adhésive comprend une première partie (6) de surface comportant un revêtement faiblement adhésif au contact de la zone adhésive (3) et une patte frontale de traction (8) qui est d'un seul tenant avec une partie supérieure pliée (7) et qui s'étend au-delà d'une face verticale dudit paquet lorsque le paquet de serviettes (2) est disposé dans la chambre de réserve (10) de l'appareil et est apte à permettre audit recouvrement de papier (4) d'être extrait de son emplacement entre ce paquet (1) et un paquet similaire (1) disposé de façon que l'autre de ses dites extrémités soit au contact de cette patte, le recouvrement de papier (4) étant replié sur lui-même autour d'une ligne de pliage (5) de façon que ladite première partie (6) de surface dudit recouvrement de papier (4) soit superposée sensiblement à toute la zone adhésive (3).

2. Paquet selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que ladite patte de traction (8) comprend une partie pliée (7) dudit recouvrement (3) qui s'étend à partir de la ligne de pliage (5) entre ladite patte (8) et ladite première partie (6) de surface, ladite ligne de pliage (5) étant située le long du bord dudit recouvrement (4) le plus éloigné de ladite face frontale verticale.

3. Paquet selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que ladite patte de traction (8) comprend un revêtement de papier détachable (4) configuré en T, plié sur lui-même autour de la ligne de pliage (5), la branche (8) du T faisant saillie du paquet (1) et formant une patte de traction (8) pour l'extraire de l'emplacement entre deux paquets empilés (1, 1).

4. Paquet de serviettes selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, caractérisé en ce que le revêtement faiblement adhésif (3) de ladite première partie de surface comprend un agent permettant de le détacher facilement.
