(57) A dispenser (110) for material including a manipulable applicator unit (111) and a container unit (112) including a well (140) for receiving the applicator unit (111), a laterally opening receptacle (142) for holding a coherent body of the material to be dispensed, a cover for opening and closing the receptacle, the opening and closing of the receptacle occuring in response to manipulation of the applicator unit.
