(57) An electron-emitting element includes an electric field applying portion (1) composed of a dielectric, a first electrode (2) formed on one surface of the electric field applying portion, and a second electrode (3) being formed on the surface and forming a slit in cooperation with the first electrode, and is formed on a substrate (4).
