OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The object of the present invention is a document display unit which enables the
information contained in the documents displayed to be shown in a protected and securely
supported manner.
[0002] The present invention is characterised on the one hand by the special configuration
and design of the means used for the purpose of achieving a display unit that protects
the information shown and, on the other, by the fact that the display unit can be
fixed in a replaceable way on any type of wall or surface, using magnetic means both
as the means for retaining the document and for fixing the display unit to the bearing
surface.
[0003] The present invention therefore lies within the sphere of information display units
which are attached to vertical surfaces or walls.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0004] To date known document display units either have means designed in such a way that
they permit the fastening of the document by means of specially designed pieces which
are subsequently attached to the surface on which we wish to show the information
contained in a document.
[0005] Document display means are also known that use magnetic fastening means, although
these are based on the use of means hinged at their top and bottom parts in such a
way that they define a space where one end of the document to be displayed is housed,
whilst the other free end is retained by magnetic means.
[0006] The object of the present invention, therefore, is a document display unit that will
enable the information contained in a document to be shown in such a way that the
document is retained securely, that the document displayed is easily replaceable with
another one, that the display unit may be fixed on any type of surface irrespective
of its nature and wherein the means for retaining the document and for fastening the
display unit are based on magnetic means disposed on the ends of the display unit.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The proposed document display unit invention basically consists of a transparent
sheet, preferably of PVC or the like which is provided at the top and bottom with
means for securing the display unit to a surface where we wish to attach it. These
upper and lower securing means are separable in two parts or halves: on the one hand,
one part or half is attached to the transparent sheet, while the other part or half
is secured to the surface on which we wish to attach the display unit. Between both
parts of each of the upper and lower means of attachment a space is defined where
the ends of the document to be displayed are housed, both parts being attracted since
at least one of the parts presents magnetic properties and the other is made from
ferromagnetic material, although it may also be made from magnetic material.
[0008] Each of the parts making up the upper and lower means for securing the display unit
is fixed on the transparent sheet or the surface where we wish to attach the display
unit by means of adhesives or glues.
[0009] In an alternative embodiment, instead of using adhesives disposed on the strips of
each one of the upper and lower securing means halves, double-sided adhesive strips
may be used, such that a strip adhesive on both sides is interposed between the magnetic
strip and the transparent PVC sheet, both in the upper and lower securing means, with
the result that it enables the magnetic strip to be attached to the transparent PVC
sheet. Furthermore, on the other half of the upper and lower fixing means that are
secured on the surface on which we wish to attach the display unit, instead of using
an adhesive applied to the fastening face of the ferromagnetic or magnetic strip,
a double-sided adhesive strip is used, so that one of the strips is stuck to the ferromagnetic
or magnetic band, while the other side is protected by a paper that is removable at
the time of its attachment to the surface to be displayed.
[0010] Thanks to the structure of the fixing means, it is possible to replace a document
being displayed for another in a simple and straightforward manner, while it may also
be used on any kind of surface, such as glass, wood, panels and so on. In the event
of the surface on which the display unit is fixed being glass, the document to be
displayed should be placed with the face oriented to one side or the other, depending
on from where we want the information to be seen.
[0011] As the upper and lower fastening means are each made up of two separable parts or
halves, another advantage stemming from the structure that is presented by the object
of the invention is that they may be replaced with one another, i.e, if the part of
the sheet has been damaged along with its upper and lower magnetic strips, they may
be replaced with another identical part without any need to remove the part of the
securing means fixed to the surface where the display unit is attached, and likewise
to the contrary, if either the upper or the lower part of the means of fixing to the
attach surface is damaged, it may be removed and another similar one set in its place,
without having to discard the whole display unit.
EXPLANATION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0012] To supplement the description that is now going to be given and in order to assist
in a clearer understanding of the features of the invention, a set of drawings is
adjoined as an integral part of the present descriptive report, wherein the most significant
details are represented for purely informative and non-restrictive purposes.
Figure 1 shows a perspective representation where we observe a close view of the items
making up the display unit assembly that is the object of the invention.
Figure 2 shows an alternative form of embodiment where we observe a close perspective
view of the features of the display unit assembly that is the object of the invention.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0013] In the light of the above-mentioned figures we now go on to describe a mode of preferred
embodiment of the invention, as well as the explanation of the drawings.
[0014] In figure 1, we may observe that the display that is the object of the invention
consists of a transparent sheet (1), preferably of PVC or the like, which is provided
on its upper and lower portion with identical fixing means, each of them made up of
two parts or halves.
[0015] One of the halves of both the upper and lower fixing means consists of an upper magnetic
strip or band (2) which is attached by adhesive (3) to the sheet (1).
[0016] The other of the halves of the fixing means, both upper and lower, consists of an
at least ferromagnetic strip or band (4) which is provided on one of its faces - the
one in contact with the bearing surface (13) - with an adhesive (7), suitably protected
by means of a removable protection strip (6), which should be peeled off at the time
of sticking to the bearing surface (13).
[0017] In this way, it is possible to attach the display unit assembly to any surface, as
the ferromagnetic band (4) can be secured to any surface thanks to the fixing means
used, such as adhesives or glues.
[0018] Instead of the ferromagnetic band (4) we may also use a magnetic strip, which would
also permit the attraction of the two parts or halves making up the upper and lower
fixing means.
[0019] Figure 2 shows an alternative form of embodiment, which does not change the essential
nature of the invention in any way, and it may be observed that instead of having
an adhesive both on the magnetic band (2) fixed to the transparent sheet (1) and on
the magnetic strip (9) fixed to the surface to be displayed, strips are used that
are adhesive on both sides, (8) and (10), respectively. That is to say, a double-sided
adhesive strip (8) is placed between the magnetic band (2) and the transparent sheet
(1), while a double-sided adhesive strip (10) is interposed between the magnetic strip
(9) and the bearing surface (13).
[0020] The adhesive strip (10) has one of its faces, the one for attachment to the bearing
surface (13), protected by means of a removable strip (11), which should be peeled
off at the time of attachment to the bearing surface.
[0021] Thanks to the configuration described, it may be observed that between the two halves
making up the upper and lower fixing means there is a space (12) defined wherein the
upper and lower ends of the document to be displayed are housed. Likewise, through
being independent in their action, besides permitting easy replacement of one document
for another, it is possible for each one of the halves or its parts making up the
upper and lower fixing means to be replaced without having to discard the whole display
unit.
[0022] It is not considered necessary to make this description more extensive for any expert
on the subject to be able to appreciate the scope of the invention and the advantages
stemming from it.
[0023] The materials, shape, size and layout of the elements shall be open to variation
providing that the essential nature of the invention is not altered.
[0024] The terms in which this report has been drafted should always be taken in their broadest
non-restrictive sense.
1. Document display unit
characterised in that it consists of:
- a transparent sheet of PVC,
- identical upper and lower fixing means, each of them in parts or halves, one of
said halves being attached to the transparent sheet, while the other half is attached
to the bearing surface; where the part fixed to the transparent sheet consists of
a magnetic band which is attached to the plastic sheet by means of an adhesive or
glue, while the part attached to the bearing surface consists of a ferromagnetic band
the face of which for attachment to the bearing surface has an adhesive protected
by means of a removable protection strip;
all this in such a way that between the parts or halves of the upper and lower fixing
means there is a space defined where the ends of the documents to be displayed are
housed, while the transparent sheet may be detached completely, along with its parts
or fixing halves adhered to it, from the fixing half attached to the support surface.
2. Document display unit according to claim one, characterised in that the part or half of the upper or lower fixing means which are attached to the bearing
surface use a magnetic band.
3. Document display unit according to claim one, characterised in that, instead of using adhesive as the means of fixing of each one of the parts or halves
of the means of attachment to the transparent sheet or to the bearing surface, a double-sided
adhesive strip is used, thus the magnetic band attached to the transparent sheet is
fixed by means of a double-sided adhesive strip, while the ferromagnetic or magnetic
band attached to the bearing surface uses a strip adhesive on both sides, where one
of the faces is covered by a removable protection strip.
