TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a rectangular sheet that can be used as a blanket
or a mat, configured so as to be capable of being used as, e.g., a raincoat, a windbreaker,
an anorak, an item of protective clothing, or another item of hooded clothing.
BACKGROUND ART
[0002] There have been a variety of proposals, such as in, e.g. Utility Model Application
No. 6-66 (Utility Model Registration No. 3001403), Japanese Unexamined Utility Application
No.
63-2711, and
JP-A 11-103995, for a sheet body that can be used as a blanket, a mat, a sleeping bag, or a tent;
configured so as to be capable of being used as a poncho, a raincoat, or another item
of clothing. However, all of the proposals are for a configuration in which an opening
or an incision, through which the neck of the wearer is passed, is provided or in
which the sheet body is cut into a special shape; or, in an instance in which a hood
part is provided, a configuration in which the hood is either formed as a cut-out,
or attached in a subsequent action.
[0003] Therefore, although the sheet body has the function and aesthetic quality of, and
can be used as, a raincoat or another outer garment, the configuration is less functional
as a blanket or a mat, has diminished suitability for mass production, and results
in higher cost.
[0004] Also, conversely, the configuration is such that if the suitability for mass production
is increased and suitability for use as a blanket or a mat is increased, the functionality
or aesthetic quality as an outer garment is inevitably diminished.

Effect of the invention
[0020] Since the present invention is configured as described above, there is obtained an
innovative rectangular sheet that can be used as a blanket or a mat, where the rectangular
sheet can be readily used as a blanket or a mat, can be worn as a hooded item of clothing
according to need without being diminished in terms of functionality as a blanket
or a mat, and has excellent functionality and aesthetic quality as an item of clothing.
[0021] Specifically, since one corner part of a rectangular sheet body is used and configured
so as to be worn and secured as a hood part, the rectangular sheet can be readily
used as, and has exceptional functionality as, a blanket or a mat. In other words,
although the rectangular sheet is configured so as to be capable of being used as
a hooded item of clothing, the rectangular sheet is a rectangular sheet body that
does not have a complex outer profile, does not require an opening through which the
neck of the wearer is passed, and is not diminished in terms of function as a blanket,
a mat, or a similar item; and the hood is not configured to be attached in a subsequent
action. Therefore, the rectangular sheet can be readily worn, and the head of the
wearer can be readily covered by and wrapped securely in the hood part, using a simple
structure.
[0022] Accordingly, a rectangular sheet body having exceptional functionality as a blanket
or a similar item as described above can be switched to and used as a hooded item
of clothing through a simple operation, and there is obtained an innovative rectangular
sheet that can be used as a blanket or a mat and that has exceptional functionality
and aesthetic quality.
[0023] Also, according to the second aspect of the invention, a hood flange end part can
be formed on the hood part without diminishing the functionality as a blanket or a
similar item, and there is obtained an innovative rectangular sheet that can be used
as a blanket or a mat and that has further-improved functionality and aesthetic quality
as a hooded item of clothing.
[0024] Also, according to the third through fifth aspects of the invention, the corner-part-edge
part can be folded and secured or the neck part can be drawn so that, e.g., the head
can be covered without any gaps being present so as to improve the functionality of
the hood part, without diminishing the functionality as a blanket or a similar item;
and there is obtained an innovative rectangular sheet that can be used as a blanket
or a mat and that has further-improved functionality and aesthetic quality as a hooded
item of clothing.
[0025] Also, according to the sixth through eighth aspects of the invention, the rear bottom
end part, which is unnecessary, can be folded up; and it is therefore possible to
obtain an innovative rectangular sheet that can be used as a blanket or a mat and
that has further-improved functionality and aesthetic quality as a hooded item of
clothing without diminishing the functionality as a blanket or a similar item.
[0026] Also, according to the ninth through twelfth aspects of the invention, the rectangular
sheet can be used as a blanket or a similar item with extreme ease, the functionality
when used as a hooded item of clothing is significantly improved, and the commercial
value is further enhanced.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0027]
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of the present embodiment illustrating a state in which
the rectangular sheet is used as a hooded item of clothing. A wearer can wear a rectangular
sheet body 1 of such description that can be used as a blanket or a mat, while covering
the head with one (upper) corner part 2 of the sheet body 1 as a hood part 2; a plurality
of the engaging implements 4 placed and provided at intervals are fitted on left and
right edge parts 3 that are connected to the hood part 2, respectively, so that the
left and right edge parts 3 are engaged at the front of the body. Also, outer surfaces
and inner surfaces of the corner-part-edge part 5 are folded together and secured
by folding the corner-part-edge part 5 of the hood part 2 together in an S-shaped
and fitting fold-securing implements 6, respectively. As a result, the head can be
covered without any gaps being present. Additionally, a neck drawstring 9 provided
as the neck-drawing part 8 is pulled to tighten the neck part of the hood part in
order to constrict the gap in the neck part of the hood part.
FIG. 2 is a schematic plan view of the present embodiment when an outer surface is
an upper surface.
FIG. 3 is a schematic rear view of the present embodiment when an inner surface is
an upper surface.
FIG. 4 is an expanded schematic perspective view of the present embodiment showing
a hood part 2 when the rectangular sheet is used as a hooded item of clothing. The
corner-part-edge part 5 of the hood part 2 is folded together in an S-shaped, outer
surfaces of the corner-part-edge part 5 are folded together and secured by fitting
a pair of fold-securing implements 6. The inner surfaces of the corner-part-edge part
5 are also folded together and secured by fitting a pair of fold securing implements
6. As a result, the head can be covered without any gaps being present. Additionally,
a neck drawstring 9 provided as the neck-drawing part 8 is pulled to tighten the neck
part of the hood part in order to constrict the gap in the neck part of the hood part.
FIG. 5 is an expanded schematic perspective view of the present embodiment showing
a state in which outer surfaces of the corner-part-edge part 5 of the hood part 2
are folded together and secured. The figure shows a state before the outer surfaces
of the corner-part-edge part 5 are folded together in an S-shape, and then folded
together and secured. A pair of folding-securing implements 6 provided on the outer
surfaces together and securing. Under this condition, as shown in Fig. 6, another
pair of folding-securing implements 6 provided on the inner surfaces are also fitted
for folding the inner surfaces together and securing, and then the corner-part-edge
part 5 is folded together in an S-shape and secured.
FIG. 6 is an expanded schematic perspective view of the present embodiment showing
a state in which inner surfaces of the corner-part-edge part 5 of the hood part 2
are folded together and secured. After the outer surfaces of the corner-part-edge
part 5 are folded together and secured by fitting a pair of folding-securing implements
6, the inner surfaces of the corner-part-edge part 5 of the hood part 2 are also folded
together and secured by fitting another pair of folding-securing implements 6, so
that the corner-part-edge part 5 of the hood part 2 is folded together in an S-shape
and secured. As a result, the head can be covered by the hood part 2 without any gaps
being present.
FIG. 7 is an expanded schematic perspective view of the present embodiment showing
a state before the rear bottom end part is folded up and secured. It is possible to
fold up a rear bottom end part (lower end part) of the sheet body 1 and secured, when
not required, by fitting a pair of fold-back securing implements 12, if the rear bottom
end part is folded up and secured.
FIG. 8 is an expanded schematic diagram of the present embodiment showing a state
in which the rear bottom end part is folded up and secured. The lower part of the
sheet body 1 is folded up and the fold-back securing implement 12 provided at the
lower part of the sheet body 1. The extent by which the lower end part of the sheet
body 1 is folded back upwards can be altered by using two fold-back securing implements
12 provided at the upper and lower positions of the sheet body 1.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
[0028] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be briefly described, showing
the operation of the present invention, with reference to the drawings.
[0029] The rectangular sheet according to the present invention is a rectangular sheet that
does not have an opening through which the neck of the wearer is passed, is not required
to have a hood attached thereto in a subsequent action, and does not have a complex
outer profile. Therefore, the rectangular sheet can be readily used as a lap robe,
a shawl, bedding (blanket), or another type of blanket; or as a mat, and has exceptional
functionality and suitability for mass production.
[0030] In other words, the rectangular sheet has a configuration that allows usage to be
switched to a hooded item of clothing that has exceptional functionality and aesthetic
quality, while having undiminished functionality as a blanket or a similar item and
having exceptional suitability for mass production.
[0031] Specifically, according to the present invention, a wearer can wear a rectangular
sheet body 1 of such description that can be used as a blanket or a mat, while covering
the head with one corner part 2 of the sheet body 1 as a hood part 2; engage left
and right edge parts 3 that are connected to the hood part 2, the engaging being performed,
e.g., at the front of the body, using engaging implements 4; and thereby use the sheet
body 1 as a hooded item of clothing.
[0032] Since the hood part 2 is configured using one corner part 2 of the rectangular sheet
body 1 as described above, the sheet body 1 does not require an opening, slit, or
a similar hole through which the neck is passed, and there is no need to attach the
hood part 2 in a subsequent action. Accordingly, there is obtained a structure that
is more suitable for use as a blanket or a similar item, and that can be readily produced
while being exceptionally suitable for mass production. Also, due to use of the corner
part 2, there is obtained an item of clothing that has a hood and is bilaterally symmetrical,
therefore resulting in satisfactory functionality and aesthetic quality as an item
of clothing as well as a capacity to be readily worn and secured around the body.
[0033] Configuring a corner-end part 2A of the corner part 2 as a hood flange end part 2A,
and, e.g., setting the shape of the hood flange end part 2A, stiffening the hood flange
end part 2A using a lining 13, or performing another measure makes it possible to
form the hood flange end part 2A on the hood part 2, further improving the functionality/aesthetic
quality as a hooded item of clothing, without diminishing the function of a blanket
or a similar item.
[0034] If fold-securing implements 6 for folding and securing are provided to the hood part
2 on a corner-part-edge part 5 of the corner part 2; or if, to a boundary part between
the hood part 2 and a shoulder-covering part 7 for covering the shoulders when the
head is covered using the hood part 2 and the sheet body 1 is worn on the body, there
is provided a neck-drawstring-penetrating part 10 through which a neck drawstring
9 for drawing is passed, or a neck-tightening fold-securing implement for folding
and securing, and there is provided a neck-drawing part 8, the functionality and aesthetic
quality of the hood part 2 are improved, and the functionality as well as the aesthetic
quality as a hooded item of clothing are further improved without diminishing the
function of a blanket or a similar item.
[0035] After the sheet body 1 is worn on the body, the neck part of the hood part 2 is drawn
using the neck-drawing part 8, whereby the neck part of the hood part 2 is narrowed,
e.g., the tightened part is positioned in a state of being pulled towards the neck,
and the weight of the sheet body 1 being worn is supported on the shoulders. Therefore,
the head is not subjected to the entire weight of the sheet body 1, and the sheet
body 1 can be more readily worn.
[0036] When the sheet body 1 is configured so as to be provided with fold-back securing
implements 12 for folding back and securing an opposite-side corner part 11 located
opposite the corner part 2 that forms the hood part 2, it is possible to fold up a
rear bottom end part of the sheet body 1 when not required.
[0037] When the sheet body 1 is configured so that an outer surface material forming an
outer surface is made from a material having waterproof or water-repellent properties;
and an inner surface material forming an inner surface, which is an opposite surface,
is made from a material having heat-retaining properties, a napped material having
a napped surface and a pleasing texture, or a knitted material, the functionality
and aesthetic quality are significantly improved whether as a blanket or a similar
item or as a hooded item of clothing, significantly enhancing commercial value.
[Examples]
[0038] Specific examples of the present invention will now be described with reference to
the drawings.
[0039] One corner part 2 of the rectangular sheet body 1, which can be used as a blanket
or a mat, is a hood part 2 for covering the head; the left and right edge parts 3
connected to the corner part 2 are engaging parts 3 to be engaged in front of the
body when the sheet body 1 is worn on the body; snap fasteners, buttons, or other
engaging implements 4 are provided to the engaging parts 3 along an edge direction
at predetermined intervals; and the sheet body 1 is configured to as to be capable
of being used as a hooded item of clothing.
[0040] Specifically, the engaging implements 4 are placed and provided at predetermined
intervals along the left and right edge parts 3 that are connected to the corner part
2 of the square sheet body 1 to be used as the hood part 2, from the neck-drawing
part 8 to other corner parts to the left and right, the neck-drawing part 8 being
provided so as to traverse the sheet body 1 partway along the left and right edge
parts 3 and being provided on a boundary part between the corner part 2 and other
portions.
[0041] For example, either male or female snap fasteners are provided as engaging implements
4 at intervals along one of the left and right edge parts 3, and the other of either
male or female snap fasteners are provided at intervals along the other edge part
on an opposite side. There is obtained a configuration where the neck-drawing part
8 is drawn and the neck part of the hood part 2 is tightened while the head is covered
by the corner part 2 as the hood part 2, the sheet body 1 is worn on the body, and
the left and right edge parts 3 are engaged in front of the body using the engaging
implements 4 (snap fasteners), whereby the sheet body 1 can be worn as a hooded item
of clothing.
[0042] More specifically, in the present embodiment, there is obtained a configuration where
the neck-drawstring-penetrating part 10 through which the neck drawstring 9 for drawing
is passed is provided as described further above (it being possible to provide a neck-tightening
fold-securing implement for folding and securing in another possible configuration),
and the neck-drawing part 8 is provided, to a boundary part between the hood part
2 of the corner part 2 of the sheet body 1 and the shoulder-covering part 7 for covering
the shoulders when the head is covered using the hood part 2 and the sheet body 1
is worn on the body (or more specifically, a portion that is positioned on the shoulders
by the neck when drawn).
[0043] The neck-drawing part 8 is configured so that the neck-drawstring-penetrating part
10 is provided as described above at the boundary part between the corner part 2 and
the shoulder-covering part 7, i.e., at a position that traverses the left and right
edge parts 3 of the sheet body 1 as a curve and that divides the corner part 2 constituting
the hood part 2 and other portions that are worn so as to cover the shoulder and the
body below the shoulder; the neck drawstring 9 is passed through the neck-drawstring-penetrating
part 10 so that both end parts of the neck drawstring 9 are in a state of protruding,
as pulling-and-tightening end parts, left and right respectively; both of the left
and right protruding end parts of the neck drawstring 9 are pulled and tightened;
the neck-drawstring-penetrating part 10 and the neck drawstring 9 are pulled onto
the shoulders by the neck; and the neck portion of the hood part 2 is constricted.
[0044] Specifically, after the sheet body 1 is worn on the body, the neck part of the hood
part 2 is drawn using the neck-drawing part 8, whereby the neck part of the hood part
2 is narrowed, e.g., the tightened part is positioned in a state of being pulled towards
the neck, and the weight of the sheet body 1 being worn is supported on the shoulders.
Therefore, a configuration is obtained so that the head is not subjected to the entire
weight of the sheet body 1, and the sheet body 1 can be more readily worn.
[0045] Also, as described further below, there is obtained a configuration such that if
the neck drawstring 9 having been passed through the neck-drawstring-penetrating part
10 is secured on (i.e., sewn onto) a center part of the neck-drawstring-penetrating
part 10 when a plurality of types of fabric are laid over one another and stitched
together in the horizontal and vertical directions and the sheet body 1 is formed,
and the left and right protruding end parts are pulled and tightened towards the body,
then the boundary part will be drawn in a satisfactory manner, the neck part will
be tightened, and the gap in the neck part of the hood part 2 will be constricted
so that satisfactory functionality and aesthetic quality as a hood part 2 will be
obtained.
[0046] Also, since the neck-drawing part 8 is configured as described further above and
the neck drawstring 9 protrudes outwards beyond the left and right edge parts 3 of
the sheet body 1, the function as a blanket is not diminished.
[0047] Also, in the present embodiment, the corner-end part 2A of the corner part 2 is the
hood flange end part 2A of the hood part 2.
[0048] For example, a lining 13 is provided within the corner-end part 2A of the hood part
2, or the corner-end part 2A is otherwise stiffened; or the corner-end is rounded
or otherwise shaped, whereby the aesthetic quality is improved.
[0049] Also, in the present embodiment, fold-securing implements 6 for folding and securing
are provided to the corner-part-edge part 5 of the corner part 2.
[0050] Specifically, snap fasteners are provided as fold-securing implements 6 to the corner-part-edge
part 5. More specifically, there is obtained a configuration where male and female
snap fasteners for folding outer surfaces together in an overlapping manner are provided
at intervals on the outer surfaces; male and female snap fasteners for folding inner
surfaces together in an overlapping manner are provided at intervals on the inner
surfaces at positions that intersect with the snap fasteners on the outer surfaces;
and each of the male and female snap fasteners is color-coded for ease of identification.
Each of the snap fasteners is successively fitted, whereby the corner-part-edge part
5 is folded and secured. As a consequence, not only is the neck part of the hood part
2 folded and secured, but an upper part of the hood part 2 that forms a boundary with
respect to an edge part, e.g., the hood flange end part 2A in the present embodiment,
is folded and secured; and the hood part 2 covers the head without any gaps being
present. Also, the hood flange end part 2A is thereby protrudingly formed so as to
retain shape in a satisfactory manner, and the functionality and the aesthetic quality
of the hood part 2 are further improved.
[0051] In the present embodiment, there are also provided fold-back securing implements
12 for folding back and securing the opposite-side corner part 11 located opposite
the corner part 2.
[0052] Specifically, there are provided fold-back securing implements 12 for upwardly folding
back (i.e., doubling up) and overlappingly securing the opposite-side corner part
11 on a lower side constituting the rear bottom end part, where the corner part 2
constituting the hood part 2 constitutes an upper side.
[0053] For example, the fold-back securing implements 12 are configured from male and female
snap fasteners. Either of the male or female fasteners is provided to a corner-end
part of the opposite-side corner part 11; the other of either the male or female fasteners
is provided at a position at which it fits with the fastener provided to the corner-end
part when folded back; and a plurality of the other of either the male or female fasteners
are provided, whereby a configuration is obtained in which the extent by which the
opposite-side corner part 11 is folded back upwards can be altered.
[0054] The sheet body 1 according to the present embodiment is configured so that the outer
surface material forming the outer surface is made from a material having waterproof
or water-repellent properties; and the inner surface material forming the inner surface,
which is the opposite surface, is made from a material having heat-retaining properties
or a knitted material having a napped surface and a pleasing texture.
[0055] Also possible is a configuration comprising one sheet of material, e.g., a configuration
comprising a knitted material, so as to be satisfactory as a blanket as well as having
good heat-retaining properties, being comfortable, and having a pleasing texture when
used as an item of clothing; or a configuration comprising a polyester material, a
vinyl material, or another material having exceptional waterproof or water-repellent
properties, so as to be satisfactory when used a mat and being extremely suitable
for protection against rain or wind when worn. However, in the present embodiment,
a configuration is used in which the outer and inner surfaces are formed from different
materials. In other words, although a configuration comprising one sheet is possible,
there is used in the present embodiment a configuration in which different materials
are overlapped.
[0056] Specifically, a configuration is used in which the material having exceptional waterproof
or water-repellent properties and a knitted material having a pleasing texture and
good heat-retaining properties are overlapped, sewn together, and an edge part is
attached. When used as a mat, the sheet body 1 is used so that the outer surface faces
the ground; when used as a blanket, the sheet body 1 is used so that the outer surface
is disposed on the outside; when worn, the sheet body 1 is used so that the knitted
material represents the inner surface, so as to obtain a pleasing texture, good comfort,
exceptional waterproof or water-repellent properties, and excellent heat-retaining
properties; and an extremely practical sheet body 1 is obtained.
[0057] A heat-insulating material or a cushioning material may be further provided between
the overlapped materials. Also, a configuration of such description makes it possible
for the sheet body 1 to be used as an item of protective clothing. In such an instance,
the sheet body 1 can be used satisfactorily as a blanket, and can also be used as
an item of protective clothing, resulting in a sheet body 1 that is extremely useful
as a piece of disaster prevention gear.
[0058] Also, e.g., adorning the sheet body 1 with colors or a logo representing a sports
team as an item of merchandise results in an item that is highly exceptional as a
piece of supporters' paraphernalia for spectator sports.
[0059] For example, the sheet body 1 can be used as a flag used to cheer teams or a sheet
used for card stunts, and as a blanket or a mat; and can be readily switched to and
used as an anorak or a raincoat. In such an instance, adorning the sheet body 1 with
colors or a logo representing a sports team results in an item that has an extremely
high commercial value as a piece of supporters' paraphernalia.
[0060] The present invention is not limited to the present embodiment, and specific configurations
of each of the constituent features may be designed as appropriate.
