    Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to a glove for meat processing.

    BACKGROUND ART

[0002] As well known, gloves for meat processing are normal gloves but made in metal mesh so as to avoid that the knife blade used for cutting meat can, in case of incorrect use, come directly into contact with parts of the user hand.

[0003] The most important problem with the gloves currently on the market mainly consists in the fact that an effective grip of the meat being processed cannot be achieved by a metal mesh glove. This reduced grip in part leads to an increase in processing times since it is executed when the user believes to have an effective grip on the meat after several attempts, and, in part, to the increased likelihood of work-related injuries (wounds caused by a knife blade) because during the cutting of the meat the portion thereof gripped in the gloved hand may slip out of the grip. The slipperiness requires also the use of muscular force of high intensity by the operator to maintain the grip on the product being processed. The increased use of muscular force by the operator and the largest number of actions that the operator must perform for an effective grip cause a higher ergonomic-biomechanical risk and consequently a greater probability of upper limb medical problems.

[0004] A metal mesh glove with gripping means is known from US - 6408441

    DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The purpose of this invention is to provide a glove for meat processing that is devoid of the inconveniences mentioned above and namely to present means for achieving an effective grip on the meat being processed.

[0006] According to the present invention a glove for meat processing is provided according to claim 1.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0007] For a better understanding of the invention the following embodiment, purely by way of illustration and not of limitation with the aid of the accompanying figures, is presented wherein:

    Figure 1 is a perspective view of a glove according to the teachings of the present invention;

Figure 2 is a partial view according to section II-II of Figure 1; and

Figures 3 to 6 illustrate different embodiments of the part shown in Figure 2.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

[0008] With reference to Figure 1 a glove for meat processing is indicated as a whole. The glove 1 is made of metal mesh and has, along the edge of the portion for the introduction of the hand a strap 2 that once the glove 1 is worn goes to fix the glove on the user's wrist. For a better understanding in Figure 1, the mesh has been illustrated only in part, although the entire glove is made of mesh.

[0009] The glove 1 has a plurality of plates 3 fixed to various parts of the glove 1 itself and from which projections 4 originate in an outward direction. The plates 3 are fixed to the part of the glove 1 that should grip the meat being processed, and, in particular, the plates 3 are fixed on the palm and on the fingers of the glove 1. The plates 3 and the projections 4 are preferably made of metallic material but may also be made of plastic material or other material. Preferably the projections 4 are made in one piece with the corresponding plate 3 but a different embodiment could provide that the projections 4 may be fixed in a removable manner to the corresponding plate 3 so as to be interchangeable. The projections 4 may be arranged in multiple rows as illustrated in Figure 1 or may be arranged according to different geometries.

[0010] In Figure 2 a plate 3 is illustrated which is fixed on the outer face of the mesh the glove 1 is made of by way of an adhesive layer 5. As can be seen the projections 4 are of a substantially conical shape, being internally hollow and have their own outer edge shaped so as to define a series of tips 6. To define the shape of the projections 4 just described the punching of a plate 3 with a pointed tool is sufficient. Naturally, the projections 4 may be pyramidal in shape and be or not be internally hollow. Finally, it should be emphasized that the length of the projections 4 may be different from one projection to the other protection 4. It is also clear that instead of the adhesive 5, mechanical fastening means may be used such as hooks, rings, fixing screws or other systems such as for example, by a welding between the plate 3 (if made of metal) and the metal mesh of the glove 1.

[0011] In Figure 3 a different fixing method of the plate 3 to the mesh of the glove 1 is illustrated. In particular, the plate 3 is arranged inside the glove 1 and the projections 4 extend to the outside through the mesh; the fixing of the plate 3 to the mesh is once again made by way of the adhesive layer 5.

[0012] In figure 4 a different fixing method of the plate 3 to the mesh of the glove 1 is illustrated. In particular, the plate 3 is on the outer face of the glove 1 and is fixed thereto by way of the screws 7 that fix the plate 3 to a corresponding second plate 8 arranged inside the glove 1. This solution allows to vary the position of plate 3 at will according to the size of the meat to be processed and the size of the user's hand.

[0013] In figure 5 a different fixing method is illustrated wherein the use of metal rings 9 (preferably similar to those with which the mesh of the glove 1 is made) is provided that pass through a ring of the mesh of the glove 1 and a corresponding through hole 10 made in the plate 3.

[0014] In Figure 6 an alternative construction of the solution shown in figure 4 is illustrated. In said alternative the plate 8 is replaced by two plates 8 of sizes markedly smaller than the plate 3 and fixed thereto by way of screws 7.

[0015] Returning to Figure 1 preferably a plate 3 for each finger of the glove 1 is arranged and at least one plate 3 on the palm of the glove 1.

[0016] From the above description the main advantage obtained with the glove 1 is evident. In particular areas of the glove 1 wherein the projections 4 are available that allow an effective grip of the meat during the processing thereof have been created as the tips 6 of the projections 4 incise the meat which then will not be able to slip out of grip. It seems clear that an effective grip leads to an improvement in the work of cutting the meat and is safer for the operator and therefore there is a lower probability of work-related injuries and medical problems to the upper limb.
